Now either the order is full of lesbians who devoloped immaculate conception or the correct word was suppose to be husband.Of course there is also the option of adoption, but still in the way it's said I can't see how the Commander would not be bewildered by this conversation.

Why would the PC be bewildered if is adoption? If a woman chat to me and talked about her wife and son; I would be a bit surprised and confused for a second and just assume the child is adopted and carry on with the conversation. I might ask her just to confirm if I am particularly dense but that's about it.

Procreation only requires a "donation" for it to happen and does not affect who one chooses to have as a life mate. That being said, in this chapter I have noticed that it isn't only female couples that we come across as I have stumbled across a few male couples as well ;) As to not spoil anything all I will say is pay attention to NPC chatter and talk to a few :3
