Is it not still better to make one of the cheaper ascended sets then convert it to Viper afterwards?

The Yassiths insignia needs jeweled damask patches @ 25g each.
If you make a cheap ascended set you can mystic forge it and convert it to vipers with the much cheaper exotic viper insignia.

That depends on if you buy patches or make them yourself. If you make them yourself the difference is negligable, iirc.

The difference between a Damask Patch and a Jeweled Damask is 25 Fulgurite. That is 25 Obsidian Shards, 25 Bottles of Airship Oil, 25 Piles of Auric Dust and 25 Ley Line Sparks. Not saving much unless you are short on karma.

atm i have 36 bolt of damask and that airship, etc i have a lot soo much that i have lost space in inventory in bank lol. i got drunk wanted a certain skin and farmed the crud out of hot maps only to realize that i already had the skin..... best weekend ever
