Suggestion to help gambling addicts

Hi all,

I know the gambling and lootbox stuff has been discussed over and over again, and I do not want to start "just another thread". I just want to hear peoples thoughts about something that came to my mind about this topic. This is not about whether you like gambling in the gemstore or not. Let's be frank: not everyone that buys a mount adoption license or a blc key is considered a gambling addict. thank god! but there certainly are people around who have problems with this, not just in the gemstore but perhaps in real life aswell. this is awful, and everyone who has experience with addiction in general knows how horrible this can be.To help these people I want to make a suggestion to ArenaNet. This is something I picked up in a 15 year old browsergame called freewar. There are some casinos ingame, where you can gamble with your money hoping to hit a jackpot. While it is true that you can only gamble with your ingame earned gold (there is no option to gamble with "real world money") still the developer of freewar gave this some thought. There is an option that allows you to lock your account out of those casinos for 6 months in a row. After 6 months the self-ban is lifted, you can NOT undo the self-ban before that (I believe not even the admins can). The only option you have is to reset the timer to 6 months again. This is a very simple tool for everyone's self regulation. My suggestion would be to implement something similar to the gemstore, so that people can block themselves from purchasing certain gambling items (like those region-blocked in belgium). As it stands the ability to lock specific items in the gemstore away is already there, ANet just has to add a button to voluntarily disable the ability to purchase those items.I don't know if this is too much to ask, or hard to implement. I just thought this is a good idea and wanted to share it. What do you guys think?

Cheers
