Whats up with the future?

Sometime next year, we will see the next expansion, with the next elite class?

With most classes, i can envision what direction they wanna take..But not with Ele..

-no idea what theme they will pick-no idea what new weapon it should see?-no idea about the elite specs..

Maybe they will add a mechanic that when double atuning to an element gives 5 new skillsThis could make it possible to stay in one element for more specific roles like healing..

Might be interested to hear what ideas live in the community for the elementalist?

Focus of spec:

  • long range single target with longbow/rifle
  • mid range condi aoe with mh mace or oh torch

Spec mechanic/theme:

  • Arcane form F5 (similar to holo forge/druid avatar) which focuses on crits, boon application and removal
  • Elemental shatters - weapon skills apply elemental stacks on enemies and F skills will shatter those stacks to apply certain effects (a flip skill after you attune to certain attunement) based on which element was shattered and which stacks were consumed. For example a target with 5 fire stacks and 2 water stacks will receive 5 burn stacks + double blind duration if fire was shattered or 5 bleeds + aoe regen for allies if earth was shattered (each element combination has different effects).

dont bother. anet will come up with yet another melee mage spec that tries to do everything at once but it turns out to be "unkillable from their internal testing" while accidentally do too much dps on afk golems so they nerf it to be useless at everything

also, all water skills HAVE TO hit like wet noodles while giving negligible heals by default, no exceptions

All they have to do is to add greatsword as the new expansion weapon to "remove" all doubts, 90% of ele community are solely pvers and in pve you don't need fast cast animations, effective defensive skills etc etc...give them the chance to craft twilight and it's a done deal.

Will look cool but will be deleted or waited on last min to be made then it will be rushed and we will get what tempest is or what weaver is but with a different melee wepon as ele elites can only be melee classes.

There relay no "good" future for the ele class as there is no one working on the class its simply a side class that anet dose not talk about any more and often post about it are out right hied from ppl view.

On a more serious note, I bet on longbow, with 0.75/1s AA cast time + 0.5/0.75 Travel Time. No vitality gain since it would be 1200 range single targets, with highly telegraphed and rooting 3,4,5 skills on 16,24,40s CD with 1/4 efficiency other classes may have. Because 20 weapon skills. It would have to invest in fire and air to get might and Fury and gain some ferocity, leaving a squishy spec with little survivability.Burning skills on fire attunement, healing bolts and ice field in water, vulnerability and cc in air with a piercing skill on air3, bleeding and cripple/immob in earth.

It's already been confirmed that the 3rd elite spec idea in line for the elementalist was to allow it access to 2 elements whilst giving it a weaponswap. Considering them saying outright that they looked at HoT specs when designing the PoF ones, to find polar opposites, makes them more than likely to follow through with this implementation.

Was this from an interview or commentary about elite specs on PoF release, something from the forums, or another source?

It wasn't confirmed anywhere, though the systems team did mention that one of the concepts that they were considering for PoF involved weapon swap with 2 attunements. https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/comment/652310/#Comment_652310

Yeah, it's in the AFC section and the Guild Chat streams leading up to PoF release.

He mostly post on thf forms it looks like only if they came here hehe. Any way that a blunt lie that the dev said as scorge ui was updated big time.

I'd like that too. And make elite skill a matter-antimatter annihilation.

You summon a cloud of antimatter, which completely erases the elementalist from existence before it has time to travel to the intended target.

@Nightmare.1234 said:putting my money on longbow with a focus on single target damage. unique mechanic wise would love see something that rewards you for staying in one attunment. I really hate the element juggling

It's been voted as one of the most wanted from the Ele community. Staff is just lackluster. I'm hoping for a better long range weapon too!

Really like this one. Would just add a swap (could use weapon swap button or something like that) so you change between offensive and defensive shatters. Defensive ones could trigger wards or something like that.
