I wholeheartedly agree pets need work. I also know that new pets are coming at some point too, so just tossing out some ideas.

I would like to see the pets reworks too more than bringing new pets, it was already pretty good that someone found an use for siamoth and owl pets with soulbeast, an alternative to the number one choice smokescale.

I think they should work a bit on the AI as well, make the pet actually follow you in syncro, jump and when you jump maybe, and when you recall it to you doesn't take ages to do the action.

And too many pets are similar each other, but some are straight upgrades than others and someone is really garbage.

Speaking of wvw roaming if you see some ranger running around with a drake or moa or tiger even before clicking on him you would know be is a low rank newbie, I am not saying every single pet should be viable but at least 10 I dunno, not the usual 3 or 4.

Id even say that ten is reaaaaally generous here.Focus on fixing old pets and get that foundation to a good level. Add new pets later on after the fix.

I totally agree with you. I hate the fact my pet running behind me for more than 350-500 radius, when I jump even it is a small high he prefers to go around for 10 sec, many times when I am in a fight and I swap pet, instead to go on the enemy he stays near me (even he is not on passive) till I use F1 command ... When I use F1 command for birds, they make some flick-back first and then they engage the enemy, so they lose another 2 sec ...I think the priority for ranger is not to fix/repair their skills, utilities, traits line, weapons etc, but to fix the Pets! Their AI first of all!

I said 10 because: Smokescale, Owl, Siamoth, Brown Bear, Gadzelle (even sometimes she or he goes weird), Electric Wyvern, Iboga, Jacaranda and Bristleback (for druid most of the time) ... and I think it is one more ... anyway, let's say almost 10. :P

Yeah and 4 out of 9 are even rarely seen.Point us the same: pet diversity is trash.

Every single ranger i found in wvw having a river drake, a moa, a tiger, or a spider were super low rank and with green gear haha

Too many pets are useless and actually am handicap to use.

I don't know much about underwater combat.

@whoknocks.4935Underwater combat will of course never be a major aspect of WvW with the current maps, but I like knowing what my pets are capable of should I need to go into the water as a number of pet skills change once underwater. Drakes are a useful take there (for soulbeast). River drake is one of the few pets to offer worldly impact there; marsh drake is one of the few for spiritual reprieve. The drakes themselves are also better in the water than they are on land as their f2s are not channeled attacks there. Marsh drake's f2 poison cloud is good to use on downed enemies.

I'm not at all disputing the need for a pet rework, but I do like knowing where/when current pets can be useful. Brown bear for example only clears condis on itself with its f2 once it's in the water.

However, I don't know how likely it is that Anet will implement eight new pets as they're averaging 4-5 new pets per expansion (5 in HoT, 4 in PoF) so far. They also seem to prefer either introducing unique pets or adding to existing families over creating new families with multiple pets. HoT added a new pet family with the wyverns but it only has two kinds in it.
