Is there any counterplay for Elixir S?

I'm at a loss here. If an enemy goes down, the engineer can pretty get a guaranteed stomp with Elixir S unless everyone goes for the heal. You can't stop it, and it lasts for almost the same duration as a stomp (3s elixir vs 3.5s stomp).

Besides the obvious "don't die", is there anything one can do about it?

You seem to have not been stomped by invisible thief or ranger yet.

^This pretty much

Keep in mind that using Elixir S for stomping it means that the Engie is wasting an important defensive cooldown for stomping. You might as well punish him after that.Plus, Elixir S stomp doesn't work on classes that can move while downed, like Ele and Thief.

Except Mesmer's can't use Time warp ( an elite skill with a 180 second cool down).

this is biggest lie ever, bcs any stablity can be instantly corputed by necro or simply removed by sigil. there are actualy only few classes with invu which are able to do this.

And pray that they stop auto attacking XD

In elixir S you can't attack but yeah it's pretty much stealth or move the body for invuln stomps.

often happens that the stealthed person attacks revealing itself, then getting stomped

Can't reveal when attacking an invun target. So if the enemy is only an engi in Elixer S the reveal won't be a problem.

you do understand what "pulsing" stability means right?

Stability corrupts into fear which is a control effect and will thus interrupt the stomp, so in this instance the fact that the stability is pulsing is irrelevant. :)

Between distortion and stealth, mesmer has some of the easiest access to stomps in game.

Bing bing bing! We have a winner.

As everybody's said, stealth the downed person, move them with transfusion or search and rescue, or just get enough people to rez them quickly.

  • Stealth it right before the stomp goes off
  • Move it with Transfusion
  • Press F with a fast reviving class, or with a teammate and revive it first

Search and rescue still exists which does same thing as transfusion.

I know, purposely left it out of the list of counters because it's disingenuous to suggest using an overall subpar Ranger setup for that ability.

Is elixir S annoying yes. Annoying as heck. However if you are in a position where the engineer got you down before popping one of the two elixir S skills. Then you got outplayed. There are many things wrong with holosmiths atm. Their broken CC is the top of my mind. Elixir S is this classes only real get out of jail free card. Thieves, mesmers, warriors, eles, and rangers, all have other get out of jail free cards.

You can counter that though

In sPVP, team fights are almost always lost once the first player is defeated. If the engi effortlessly scores that first kill the fight is pretty much won for him. "Punishing" him afterwards, therefore, is a non-argument.

How is that a lost if engie is unable to do anything, you have one downed and keep fighting surely were focusing on top target and get it down and stomp.
