Returning Revenant Main - What's the state of condi rev now?

Hi, I'm a returning player after being away for a few months.

Did Revenant get any reworks or changes?And what's the state of condi revenant in PvE, WvW and PvP now?

I really love the mace and it's animations so highly doubt I'd change to power revenant. (I really dislike the sword animations we have on rev) I know gw2 is currently dry in terms of content but I'm back trying to accomplish my goal of a fully ascended Condi Revenant.

Anything I should be wary of?

Revenant has received plenty of buffs the past year or so and is doing really well, especially power herald in PvP. This isn't the case for condition revenant or renegade, however it is doing reasonably well in PvE even in raids. Check either Metabattle or SnowCrows for more information about renegade. The build does use the mace weapon, so no need to worry about using swords.

Condi is fine for PvE, it works very well on large targets. It has a non trivial ~50 step rotation so it can be off putting to people who want a simpler way to deal the deeps. You may have issues convincing people to let you do end game content, but you could just form your own raid or fractal group if that is the case.

Condi Ren is currently meta on 3 bosses, “good” on 8 bosses, mediocre on 1 boss and “inefficient” on 7 bosses (though 3 of these “inefficients” are for bosses like River of Souls, Statues, and Escort where no one really cares what you play in most groups since they’re just easy mechanics checks). All of the above is from the perspective of Snowcrows. So overall it’s in a great place in raids for PvE.

Fractals it’s not a meta choice, but can certainly get all content done effectively. Ive never been turned away or yelled at for playing condi Ren in fractals.

Open world it’s fantastic, can deal high area Damage which handles groups of mobs well. In longer fights (elites, champions) it’s almost always going to have higher dps than power variants. additionally shortbow is actually really solid for open world which can provide high dps on harder targets without having to get close, unlike power’s hammer. Also big meta bosses it excels at, like Chak Gerent, due to their massive size and long phases.

Pvp/wvw is going to be harder to make condi rev work. I would opt for condi Herald and experiment a lot since there are some new rune and sigil options available. The most effective condi builds I’ve seen usually use sword, but if you’re doing that I kind of just wonder why you’re not playing the better power build at that point. Shortbow and mace both need defense as well as an added evade on Mallyx’s Unyielding Anguish and cRev would be a lot better.

Super fun (subjective) rotation that's meta/good tier for a lot of raid bosses... Less so for Fractal meta where power remains superior. Like it's okay for fractals, but serious CM or speed run groups won't really want you.

Non-existent presence in serious sPvP and WvW.

As for PvP. I've been playing Herald/Mallyx a lot and enjoyed stripping 20 boons from Warrior's, Necros and Mesmer while they find theirselves vulnerable and squishy. It is a strong 29+k HP, a lot of condi cleanse with new Herald F2 on Mallyx (it nie works differently for each legend).Renegade od still a PvE Beastie but has no-competitive presence.

Looked at metabattle and it seems that Condi DPS is totally out of the recommended WvW builds which is a bummer to me.

Oof. It totally is non-existent now. Hopefully someone comes up with a good condi build soon as I'm not good at judging the stats myself.

I'm already so close to getting a fully ascended condi rev that I can't be bothered to re-craft a new set now. Probably, will stay out of PvP for now and at most, the worst backlash I'll get from WvW would be getting kicked out of squads.

Condi rev in PvP is no go. Honestly, even in PvE it is kind of limited, as it only performs well in group setting.

Condi rev is one of my favorite builds. Sadly, I would recommend against it.

I don't play much PvE at all, but when I do, there's little that's more fun to play than condi rev. Especially on an asura! The animations are epic. It is a spec that I like to play for fun, however it is definitely viable for PvE endgame.In WvW the most enjoyable aspect of condi rev (well, specifically Mallyx) for me is stripping boons from overly confident Firebrands and Spellbreakers. If their boonstripping was expanded upon perhaps it would make it more sought after, but it can't really compete with Scourge in that regard.

You'll be waiting for a while on that one. Folks have tried but Condi build just isn't there outside of the situations already discussed. However, you don't need ascended gear to do power Herald in PvP. You don't need ascended for WvW as a player with exotics can beat anyone with ascended gear so long as they have skill. The small bonus you get from ascended gear doesn't carry you in WvW. Really, you only need to worry about ascended gear if you are going to be doing Fractals. If you just want ascended to just have ascended then that's cool. Just don't do it thinking it actually matters for anything outside of Fractals.
