Game spams error 42 message text since Monday Nov 26, code 10:1002:3:1517:101

I can select a character and load into the map where I left them, but I immediately get a rapidly flickering error message box reading:

"The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. For additional support, please visit http://support.guildwars2.com. (Code=10:1002:3:1517:101)"

I can move my character around and use abilities via keybinds, but the error boxes prevent me from doing anything with my mouse cursor except attempting to click the OK button on the error box. When I do occasionally manage to click on the OK button, that instance of the error box closes but the game continues to spam new instances of the box. This problem is consistent across all characters on different maps (Elon Riverlands, Dry Top, Domain of Istan, Diessa Plateau).

The game is unplayable... please help.
