Why not go axe focus for power for fractals?

Chill removes multiple boons, and deals damage.

You instead of using the warhorn, you get rid of the part of the movement, and instead have the signet of locus, meaning you got better boon stripping for higher tier fractals.

I use a focus in sPvP myself due to the only feasible option for damage at 1200 range. As it stands though, warhorn has the ability to generate more lifeforce and it gives much needed swiftness in raids.

Also, stripping boons in raids is generally not needed and a mesmer can handle that if it is.

Which ability that generates life force? Im using it in fractals.

Locust Swarm It's especially good since you can cast it while at full LF and go intro shroud while gaining more LF from that skill making your shroud last a little bit longer.

CC and QoL maybe? Focus 4 have always been terrible in group setting and focus 5 is often a huge dps loss. Wh on the other hand have interresting LF gen and "passive" dps with locust swarm and a potent CC with wail of doom.

In PvE you want to stay in shroud as long as possible for DPS and precasting warhorn 5 before entering shroud grants you 7,5% of LF every second for a 10s duration when you place yourself in the middle of 5 mobs. Additionally warhorn4 is a great breakbar skill.

In PvP Focus is better over warhorn due to boon removal... In PvE Warhorn is much better due to having other sources of Boon removal and warhorn gives much better LF regen.

Fractal potions give 25% movement speed, so I wouldn't worry about that.

I go axe/torch and either dagger/focus or staff (for masses of junk mobs) on scourge and it works.

Axe is meta, but focus is unreliable at best in PvE. your 4 bounces affects allies aswell, minimixing the amount of "damage" it deals. your 5 is kinda long casttime and doesnt really generate any fancy LF.

Quick question on warhorn vs. focus; warhorn shows 1.5% LF regeneration vs. 3% on a focus. Is the higher LF generation because the warhorn can generate 1.5% from every target it hits up to 10 and focus only hits 3% unreliably on 4 bounces?

The warhorn tooltip is badly worded, the skill don't deal 10 "impact", it pulse every second for 10 seconds on up to 5 targets. On a single target like a boss, it will reap 15% LF. While focus could reap 12% LF at the very best. The WH damages will also be a lot more reliable than the focus.

Mostly. It will also allow you to generate LF when you enter shroud at 100% because it keeps ticking after. At a minimum it should net you around another round of auto attacks in shroud.

Dadnir & Sigmoid; thanks very much for the feedback. I have already begun crafting the warhorn as I thought it would make a great addition to keep on my character anyway but now I'm really looking forward to using this especially getting LF in shroud form!

No, in PvP you always take warhorn because unblockable CC is godly for making plays. Warhorn 5 is also enormously useful because the pulsing damage makes it amazing for clearing blinds and aegis, and the swiftness + cripple application is likewise extremely useful for keeping foes from escaping you.
