Why don't glittering weapons... glitter.

Hey, this has been bothering me for a while. I really, really like the glittering weapon models in this game, but i have a big problem with them on dark maps: the glittering. Its almost straight invisible. The weapons don't glow or emit any light and the light effect on them is so subdued you literally can't see it unless its pure dark. Some of the weapon sets released around the same time had light channels on them to make them visible, but not the weapon named for light reflecting. For such a great model they come out looking flat.

Would have to ask what your settings are like... from the look of your screenshots you have 'best performance' on or a custom near those settings, which would have things like reflections and shadows turned off or low and post processing along with particle affect settings can have a large impact. Not saying all weapons are consistent, but doesn't look they're getting a fair assessment either from this.

GW2 works on having a luminescent channel on the skin of the weapon. They don't change based on the light of the map, its just more and more noticeable the darker the map gets. Even on high light maps, glittering weapons come off as dull because of the lack of luminescent channel except for the tiny glow in the hilt. I went to the darkest area just to highlight the lack of luminescent channel.

My setting are on a mix of high and medium. All the chracter based settings are higest except character limit while the environment LOD, shadows, ect are medium. Maxing settings doesn't change the way the weapons look.

I don't own any of them but when I preview them each one has a little white gem which constantly throws off clouds of glitter, and the rest of the weapon appears to be made from glossy, reflective materials. But like other people have said that might not show up on lower graphics settings or in one of the darkest areas in the room.
