Shizai.9204
Having reached armor smith level 500, I want to work towards ascended armor now. I am playing a renegade, and I follow this: https://snowcrows.com/raids/builds/revenant/renegade/condition/ regarding my build & items. Now this site mentions "Viper's Helm", "Viper's Shoulders", etc., but I can't seem to find those items in the wiki, to find out how to craft it. I checked https://gw2efficiency.com/crafting/ascended?filter.type=0&filter.weight_class=heavy, but there is no "Viper's" armor.Could someone clarify this a bit? I'm lost :>

Kiza.5630
You can find it in the wiki though: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/ViperThere is also a list of sources where you can get trinkets and living story rewards with that stat selectable. Cyninja.2954
It is highly recommended to not craft Yassith gear directly due to the recepie requiring Fulgurite (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fulgurite) which is quite grindy to acquire. It's better to craft some different ascended armor or weapons, then use stat changing (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stat_changing) to change the gear to Viper/Yassith.You won't save a lot of gold but you will save yourself the grind for Fulgurite. Since it isn't just the stats that get changed, it's the entire item, skin and all, that gets consumed to create a new item. And you're using the mystic forge for it. I tend to use "transforming," but only to avoid confusing with the mystic forge generally, since gear can be 'reforged' in other ways. However, I've never managed to get anyone else to change their typing habits. Even the wiki calls it "stat changing."FYI apparently Colin Johanson called it "transmutation," a term that I wish we had kept using.https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
Shizai.9204
Coming back to the transforming/transmutating/reforging, I took a look at https://gw2efficiency.com/crafting/ascended?filter.type=0&filter.subtype=Coat&filter.weight_class=heavyAnd the most cheapest one to craft seems to be "Refined Envoy Breastplate" with a total cost of 22g, while the next in price will be "Thackeray's Breastplate" at 45g. Will it be possible to use any of the ascended armors listet @ gw2efficiency for stat changing, and thus also the "Refined Envoy Breastplate" @22g?[edit] Same question for https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guerrilla_Arc and weapon stat changing (can it be changed to yassith's shortbow?) Kiza.5630
Those recipes are only available if you have done that part of the legendary armor collection already. Also for stat change keep in mind, you need the target insigia as well which adds to the cost. Thackeray's Doublet is 46g, Yassith's Doublet is 51g and viper's exo insignia is 5g. So nothing saved, even more so possibly more expensive since you need ectos and stuff from spirit shards.Edit: also for envoy armor, dunno if it works. If it does you'll end up with a non-precursor piece though. And honestly, you can select the stats on it after crafting, so why stat change it?Edit 2: yes you can stat change the collection ascended weapons. You'll get a generic ascended back which you need to transmute again.
Shizai.9204
Oh okay. To be honest, I'm new to the game, and pretty much confused by all the types of items (ascended, legendary, precursor :o ).
Kiza.5630
Hehe, no worries. ;) The safest bet then is to just craft it directly. You can use the crafting calculator https://gw2efficiency.com/crafting/calculator/a~0!b~1!c~0!d~1-74264 (with example filled) to get an overview of what's needed.Precursor armor = one you need to upgrade to the legendary version. You'll get it from the raid collection or later can craft pieces to make more legendary armor sets.Edit: since you said you are going for raids. If you do this achievement (which is basically just playing the first wings) https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Envoy_Armor_I:_Experimental_Armor you will get a full set which you can select any stat from (I think all are included). For exotics with Viper's stats you can play the living story 3 episodes. Many (or all?) give exo armor items at the end that has viper's selectable. Finally you can buy ascended trinkets on those maps with that stat. Shizai.9204
Ok, to be honest, I don't know how far I can get into raids, as a more casual player. I just use snowcrows as a reference for viable builds, and it was stating the above items as requirements. So maybe I should just go ahead and assemble a set of ascended equip (armor + weapons), then proceed further into the game? How much more powerful will legendary items be?
Kiza.5630
Legendary items have the same stat as ascended. Only difference is you can change stats at will (and sigils/runes). Other than that they are only fluff (and look aweful :p -- personal opinion).Well, unless you play the raids with like-minded friens, and you can jump into them with exotics just fine, I wouldn't worry about raids in that case yet. If you want to play more casual you gave the answer already. Just start out and take it slower. I'd probably start with fractals if you enjoy instanced group content more.
