Tier sets in gw2?!?!?

The idea crossed my mind around the time the rune/sigil rework happened. A number of ppl shared their opinion that it would be cool if more runes were specialised for specific builds and classes like for example how the chrono runes seems to tailor more to chrono than lets say a warrior or a guardian.

With that in mind the concept of tier sets could work as a meaningful way to get character progression that doesnt devalue our "hard earned" armors and weapons and spices up gameplay enough to get us interested.

What have tier sets historically been:

Tiers are known as armors from other games (primarily wow) that come with modifiers that enhance or change your skills with the goal being to change up your playstyle. Such tiers sets have been traditionally tied to raids in other games but that matters little in this case since gw2 isnt a raiding game at its core.

The major diff between armors/weapons in gw2 and wow is that wow has gear threadmill while gw2 does not, wow also lacks armor/weapon costumisation to the extend that gw2 has (namely the ability to change the stat types easily and primarily the ability to add runes and sigils on gear).

With that in mind i present the idea of having specific runes and sigils (a hard maybe here) tied to each class or spec which change up how some of your abilities work or give u acess to multiple traits of a trait column etc.

How could they be introduced into the game:

A way would be for them to be introduced as an expansion feature. They could work as drops from world bosses, meta chests, fractal bosses, raidbosses, hell even dungeon chests.

There could exist variants for them for spvp as well as wvw maybe. With the spvp ones being ranked rewards for ppl to work towards and unlock.

How would they work:

Theres alot of things you could do. Have runes depending on how many you use change diff things varrying from traits to utilities even weapons skills, the more runes u use (colser to that 6rune bonus the more interesting enhancements)

Or have weapon skill changes be tied to sigils and utility/trait changes be tied to runes.

This would be kinda tame changes in nature no complete redones of skills utils to the point they are a new thing entirelly.

What are the Pros:

More costumisation and tailoring of our character to match our prefered playstyle.

Additional form of progression that bypases the issue of a gear threadmill.

Could possibly add extra replayability value to dungeons, raids, fractals, lw metas and bosses or even from older content such as older world bosses of core, pof map events, hot metas etc etc.

Being class/spec exclusive allows for more creativity on the dev's part which could resalt in cooller things for us to play with.

The Cons:

The biggest one i can think of is the balance aspect not only on the side of classes but the runes and sigils themselves.

Depending on the power of said runes they could either overshadow the general use runes and sigils and hurt them and their market. Ideally they would exist as alternatives.

Feel free to share your opinions, critisisms of the idea or give your own suggestions and ideas of what possible class/spec runes and sigils could do.

I dunno. We have rune sets already and stat sets that sort of are geared towards classes already. However, the combat system is so messed up that a few of them are better than the rest and focus more on the type of build than the class.

I'd rather they reviewed the stat sets and rune sets because of the unevenness between them. I'm not asking for a perfect balance because I don't think that's possible but we have tons of stat sets and runes we might as well not have. That to me is a sign that it's worth improving on. No need to stack something on top of that I'd say.

I dont think we have runes that actually tied to specialisation to anything other than name. May have 1 or 2 cases but to a very minimal extent.

They are having trouble to balance clases and elits, you want to add more problems just for the sake of grind?I have better idea from another game i used to play. It's more simple to achieve what you want.Runes and sigils have a chance to break on death. Viola.

I mean they have a balance struggle anyways and keep on adding mechanics for us to play with (albeit very rarely (every 2+years) Something like this wouldnt be as extreme to balance largely because each rune set would be exclusive to a class/spec.

Thing is not a single piece of content is hard enough that these would be mandatory, so couple that with the existing runes existing as they are (maybe some runes changing based on name to feet their spec) and theres options for everyone.

They have, no need to add more, really. On the other hand whatever I say of imbalance in GW2 Ihave respect to devs, that didn't go the way other MMOs do, adding new overpowered class, new content that is doable only on those class, level cap, gender locked professions the sake of 'sex sales' and 'quick buck' etc.

I still think they could have locked every elite to their own utility skills, for easy balance, much like rev's legends, yet they chose to give us freedom to experiment. How much was worth the crono with no signet of inspiration in last years? :) And how easy it would have been to balance.
