Question about dolyak escorts

I've escorted a few dolyak caravans recently and noticed that the count on "A Pack Dolyak's Best Friend" has not changed at all. Is this broken? I've noticed that the dolyaks are not despawning at the door where I thought they used to, even though they have been successfully dropping off supply. I've confirmed that the dolyak has the buff to show I am escorting it. I'm stumped.

Doylaks that go to multiple places you don't get credit until it finishes the full loop. EBG sucks for this reason for doylak escorts. If you escort doylaks on the 3 BL maps they generally only go from camp to destination, and you get credit as soon as they get to destination.

Thats not how it works, atleast not if they didnt change it recently (which i dont think)

The dolyak needs to reach its final destination, which most of the times is a keep, on the alpine borderlands its easier, because the ways are way clearer. For example north camp dolyaks just walk to east and west tower and then into the garrison in the middle (which is their final destination) when they reach that you will get the point, not if they only walk into a tower, it also helps if you dont just give the buff for 1 second but also give them speed and keep the buff up for some seconds

This is not quite true either -- it seems to be a distance thing. If the dolyak travels just a short way between the camp and the first stop, you don't get a medal. If the travel is longer you do get a medal. Examples:

  1. North camp on Red BL -- you will get a medal escorting dolyak from camp to garri (first stop)
  2. NE camp on EBG -- you will not get a medal escorting dolyak from Pangloss camp to Veloka tower (but you will if you walk it a bit further to home keep)

The amount of "event participation" varies, but those things help:

  • be so close to the dolly that you induce the special protection bubble around it (that only works for dollies on the move, not in camps when they move out later)
  • put boons on the dolly several times (usually speed buffs and protection); one time buffing when the dolly moves out of camp will not generate enough participation!
  • heal the dolly when it got hit (by an enemy or a sentry) or is affected by conditions; killing the enemy or sentry (only) in proximity of the dolly will not work in my experience
  • Cleanse the crippled condition from a sentry after the dolly walked away from a sentry and it has full HP again.
  • participation is earned individually. If you get help from an ally in party (e.g. for the guild mission) you do not share participation. On player can get bronze, the other silver reward.
  • on short paths (e.g. from Vale to Bay), you will usually get only silver reward, if oyu don't boon-buff the dolly all the way (and have no heals / cleanses)

I'm late, but to figure this out we'd need to know what route you were escorting them on and who owned the objectives on that route.

There are occasional bugs where a Yak will stick its face in a door and stand there until some merciful soul reaps its meat. Besides that, they shouldn't ever just hang out at a gate--if the next objective in their route is not allied, they should run back to the originating camp. If you're trying to get the achievement, you just need to apply a buff to them OR hang out near them for ~30 seconds. The Yak doesn't have to be attacked unless you're trying to trigger the defense event.

When I escort packed yaks from SEC to Hills, I give them around 50s of swiftness and escort them (close enough for the bubble to appear) to the sentry near SET then I walk back to SEC to wait for the next Hills yak to come. I get credit for doing that so giving the yak swiftness and escorting close enough to it so that the protection bubble appears is enough for me to get credit once it reaches Hills.
