how do you 1v1 get a scourge off a point?

Seems to me like the only way is to bring a ranged build... then get shrekaroonied by anything that kills your ranged build just so you can plink at it long enough to make it run away. Tell me, do you scourges have a weakness to anything else?

yes.... any Power burst builds melt it....

when you go againts a scourge you either jump on him with everything or you die....

any power thiefs can literaly troll and faceroll a Scourge for example... im serious only bad Thiefs cant kill a scourge especialy with the Condi remove on/if Evade stuff
Rangers outright Melt them while they root them....

as a necro main i can freely say that the bigest weakness of Scourge is faceroll burst dmg.... they have no active defense outside of dodge againts it....

you cant go againts a Scourge with the typical jump in and out half tanky boon spam outlast DMG builds that most people have.... killing these builds are Scourge specialty... the more boon you have the more dmg the Scourge will do againts you...

or just Play the new Warrior spec... and tunnel the kitten out of the scourge.....

To many people running Boon spam builds and build their entire class around it and rely too much on these boons....
then they surprised they get melted by Scourge that was designed as an Anti boon spec.....
the moment you start building classes in ways they barely rely on any boons only on a few you allready made the scourge life harder while making your easier...

    TLDR:

Tunnel the hell out of the scourge with Massive Burst dmg let it be melee or range they hav no defense againts it or ways to fast recover from the dmg.........

the easiest class to deal with scourge is a Guardian.... they have both kitten good Burst paried with sustain... and through traits CRAZY amount of Cleanses and condi converting...on low CDs...

  • You might want to say what class you play and what you've tried. The answer might not be "you need to do X", but rather "stop doing Y".

Also, this is assuming you know the basics of Scourge. You know about Shades: to stay out of them, which is not too hard, how many can be out, and that the Scourge is also a Shade so if you're in melee range you can still be affected even if you're not standing in a Shade circle. You know they can corrupt your boons and convert conditions on themselves into buffs. So if you're going to go conditions against them you need to either be able to crank conditions out until they're overwhelmed, or you need to have a lot of boon hate so that you can kick their butt if they convert the conditions to boons. (So power-based burst makes much more sense. Barriers could help a LOT against bursts, if the Scourge can read you and apply them, but barriers decay pretty rapidly and only help if applied before damage, so the timing is critical.)

Necros traditionally have very little access to stability. Scourge can do better, but you should still be able to take advantage, if your build can.

Scourges are very squishy to power damage to the point they basically have no defenses against it. Even with weakness you can tear through them.

Now keep in mind if they have a support following them around you are going to have some issues.

  • general answer is they are very squishy and can easily be bursted. but if you fail to burst them disengage they thrive in attrition fights no class will ever beat a scourge in a battle of attrition.

Well, you could, but a Scourge doesn't let it become a battle of attrition. Scourge has a pretty defined time to kill and there's not a ton you can do to extend that, but also not much they can do to shorten it.

If you kill them before they hit that time, then you've won. If you somehow survive past that time, Scourge doesn't have many answers for it, especially if you did so not because of boons.

Plague Signet is the only skill in the game that is worse when traited.

not if they are using staff or dagger to regen LF if they do that they have infinite sustain.

    Three strategies:
-Power Burst and CC (only for WvW: some risk vs. tanky Trailblazer Scourges if they keep cool and are good enough to create some momentum - Trailblazer is at least as pesky on a Scourge as on a Condi Reaper)

-1200 ranged faceroll (absolutely no risk - Scourge operates at 900 range)

-outsustain (let him burn his Life Force and dodge, block, evade, kite everything he throws at you for a few seconds, then he is a sitting duck - condi scourges have a poor LF generation)

  • The hardest on point melee fighters I've faced as a Scourge was the *Dodge build Core Warrior' popularised recently by the PvP warrior streamer Tarcis after their berserker primal burst got nerfed.

The warrior has very high vigor and dodge uptime. Couple that with his blocks and greatsword evades, he has many tools to basically do what KrHome mentioned above. Bait out the Scourge's F skills then go in and burst hard.
