Gear for Chrono tank

So I hit 80 the other day on my mesmer and will be going chrono tank on her as soon as I fully unlock the spec. Question is what gear should I be using until I can get ascended gear? The gear guide on metabattle shows I should be using Maklain's set but that's ascended gear. It has equal parts toughness & healing with equal parts vitality & concentration on it. I was looking on the broker and there are no pieces with all 4 stats on it which is why I'm here asking which gear/stats I should concentrate on until I can get the ascended gear. Also what runes should I be using? The ones listed on their guide shows Superior Rune of Sanctuary can only be purchased with Symbols of Koda which are earned by completing the Honor of the Waves dungeon so obviously it will take some time to obtain those for the gear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some pieces are accountbound salvagable exotics such as Bloodstone crown, Dragonscale epaulets, Glacial gauntlets, Mursaat Brogans. It really isn't worth crafting exotic minstrel's as the materials are among the most expensive. I would suggest making ascended chest+ leg at least and use the head/shoulder/glove/footwear from the accountbund exotics.

Please double check, afaik Minstrel tank is outdated.

Minstrel tank isn’t outdated. Depending on the amount of toughness you want for raids you can go full minstrel’s or giver’s. If you’re doing exotic gear then I recommend giver’s as it is way cheaper to craft the insignia, compared to minstrel’s

With the recent Diviner’s stats patch the non tank chrono will run as little as 1000 toughness so as long as you are comfortable with running something higher than that (or if there are other classes in your squad that get increased toughness from a skill) you should be okay.

As for runes, I recommend looking into getting Superior Rune of the Defender or Altruism if Sanctuary is out of reach for now.
