crafting an ascended weapon for others

hi guys, just wondering is it possible to help a friend craft an ascended weapon (zojja's weaver) as i have 500 discpline on weaponsmith, or he need to level his own crafting for his zojja?

also if he has already used up 2 crafting (huntsman and armorsmith) both on different character....will he need to pay 800 gem to open up another crafting mastery slot?

thanks! so he already used up 2 mastery crafting on 2 different chars, if he is going to take up the 3rd he need to pay 800 gem?

He can use a 3rd character. Or he can swap out one craft for another. You only have to pay Gems if you want 3 Active crafting disciplines. You can learn all crafts on one character, swapping in and out what you need for a small fee (It’s 50s each swap for a maxed 500 craft), you won’t lose craft level progress doing this. Taking on a new discipline is always free, while switching back to a maxed discipline (at level 500) costs 50s.

As noted above, the ascended weapon itself is Account Bound on Acquire, but there are "time-gated" components (Deldrimor Steel Ingots, Spiritwood Planks, Elonian Leather Square) which are not bound. They are "time-gated" because you can only craft one of each per day.(1)(2) You can, therefore, craft these to help him.

(1) Pedantry: you can craft as many of these in a single day as you like, provided you have the one-per-day ingredient that is Account Bound., so the practical limit is one per day on average.

(2) Per account, not per character.

Small guide on how crafting works in this game:

Base line you can have 2 crafting skills per character (this is upgrade-able to up to 4 at a price of 800 gems for an Additional Crafting Liscence https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Additional_Crafting_License).

Changing crafting skills on a character, say from armorsmith to weaponsmith, costs 10 copper per level of the crafting skill you change to. You do NOT lose progress on your old crafting skill, it simply becomes unavailable until you swap back to it. Changing to a 500 skill craft costs 50 silver. Thus swapping back and forth between armorsmith and weaponsmith would cost 50 silver each time, if both crafts are at max level 500.

Most craftable items are bound on equip if not ascended, or account bound if ascended. Meaning it is possible to craft ascended gear with one character on your account for a different character. It is also possible for most items to craft them on one character and given them to another before binding them when equipping in case of not ascended items.

It is not possible to craft ascended items for a different account directly. It is only possible to trade or transfer funds or materials to the account and thus reduce the cost.

You can't craft ascended equipment and give them to another. As they are account-bound on acquire, they are attached to your account and you can't give them away. However, you can expedite the process of your friend's ascended equipment crafting by donating materials used for the items. There are a few caveats, and these concern account-bound materials:

  • Bloodstone Dust/Dragonite Ore/Empyreal Fragments (used to make bricks/ingots/stars, a component in vision crystals; augur's stone is also required, also account-bound as it's a spirit shard buy)
  • Respective Vision Crystal/Lesser Vision Crystal (account-bound on acquire)
  • Globs of Dark Matter (obtained from salvage of Lv.80 exotics, chance), used in ascended insignias/inscriptions (however, the actual insignia/inscription is tradable)
  • Recipes to actually craft the item (laurel-bound, karma-bound)
  • Obsidian shards (major vendors, requires karma/map currency/laurels, I advise against spending laurels on obsidian shards, for the above reason)

What you can offer:

  • Deldrimor dowels, damask patches (insignias/inscriptions)
  • Deldrimor ingots, spiritwood planks, damask bolts, elonian squares (base components for weapons and armor)

What you can't offer:

  • Heart of Thorns or Path of Fire-specific insignias/inscriptions (these are usually account-bound on acquire)* However, you can use the Anthology of Heroes on a made Ascended item with the desired insignia/inscription of gossamer/orichalcum quality and 5 ecto to Mystic Forge an ascended item with the desired stats*

Keep this in mind. Also, do note your friend needs 500 in the respective crafting discipline to actually make the acended item. If your friend can't hold any more disciplines, (s)he can always offload crafting on another character, to split the tasks.

edit: clarifications
