DX 12 Add-on.

Just want to know if it's ok to use this community built add-on or if Anet is going to ban me for trying out something that will improve their games performance. It would be nice to have an official stance, but barring that, I'm pretty sure that since it will not give you an advantage in any way, and only improves the quality of the game it's at your own risk. Which is to say, you can do it, and if it breaks the game, that's on you, too bad.

Unless it's a clear cut no, you're probably not getting an answer from anet for quite a while. They don't like condoning third party mods/software.

You should be fine. Playing the game on Linux does a similar thing, in that it translates DX9 to OpenGL (amongst other things),

They almost never make a direct statement about any particular 3rd party tool. If enough people use it, they might mention whether they think it's a gross violation or not.

That said, since this doesn't change how the game plays, only how it looks, it's unlikely to result in any sort of punishment. However, since it is unstable, you might crash at the worst times and ANet won't help you recover anything you lose because of that.

The gist is correct: ANet isn't working on offering direct support for DX11 or DX12. The exact reasons are more nuanced and worthy of a separate thread (of which there are already a few).
