The elite spec you want for your main

This is not about what could be released - it's more about what you'd love to see in the game.
What is the elite-spec that you've always wanted for your main?

More AoE CC heavy focussed specialization with more combinatorial dualwield options (i. E dual scepter/mace)

My main is a ranger btw.

  • Flagellant/Martyr elite for Guardian that focuses on tanking and support. Give them sacrifice skills that give boons at a cost of HP or conditions on the caster but make them really resistant to/great at avoiding damage to compensate. Make virtues a lot stronger on activation but cause debuffs on the guardian. Weapon can be dagger off hand or dual wield maybe.

  • Interactive minion spec for necro that allows you to summon a giant demon monstrosity that you can control and buff through life force and sacrificing health. I'm talking huge demon with a breakbar and the whole works.

A dual focus monk on warrior or guardian

  • Pterikdactyl.7630Pterikdactyl.7630 Member ✭✭✭✭

For Revenant, I honestly don't know. The two elite specs are too broadly focused and don't have a good defined purpose or vision. I would love for them to actually play on the energy mechanic and enhancing legends rather than the adding of random F-skills like they did for Renegade.

For Revenant, I want them to get mainland scepter for a nature caster spec. Summoning storms and roots and such. Just a personal preference.

I don't play much Mesmer, but I would love for it to have a cloneless elite spec. Less visual clutter would make me more tempted to play it.

necro-tank, like a classic tank that can absorb damage, have several misses on boss hits, give actual lifesteal(current one is a joke) to party, buff party hp every now and then

I'm working on my own spec for necro - the Accursed.

Profession mechanic - Curse Shroud (not yet designed) and curses

Long story short - next to his own shroud (normal one, no scourge shanenigans), he has access to new mechanic - the curses. He has 5 and all 5 are grafted into his utility slots. Normally dormant and not affecting his casts, for a little lifeforce (F2) he will awaken a given slot's curse the next time he uses any.

The curse itself is a two edged sword, albeit very powerful one. Initial cast rather then giving you instant benefit, sets up the conditions for trying to complete the curse. Once that's done you have a fixed time to meet the curse's requirement. If you succeed, a powerful effect will benefit you, or devastate the enemy. If you fail, you'll eat the curses backlash!

Example: Healing slot will have "Curse of Famine" grafted into it.

Normally dormant, once activated will cause your healing skill to inflict you with 2s slow at start of channel. To successfully activate the curse your healing skill must complete its channel and heal you.
If it does, it'll heal you for 1.5x the normal value, and all incoming healing for next 5s will also be increased by 30%.
If you hoever are interrupted and fail the cast, for next 5s all incoming healing will be reduced by 50%!

Elite Specialization Weapon - the Shield.

I would grand him necro themed defenses. Thinking of a skill that reduced incoming damage for a while, and makes him immune to crits for it's duration.
Other skill would be anti-ranged - allowing him to port or otherwise get a jump on enemy harassing him from afar, given their ranged attack was intercepted by this skill.

As for utilities - Glyphs - about time necro could use something on the right side of the screen when shrouded, not to mention rune of the druid should find a use on necro who by design is no stranger to healing and has uses for the stat.

Rest is still work in progress...

Engineer: Mechanist. Electric arrows with shortbow. "special ability:" F1-5 skills are additional regular skills that can be used in same time than 1-5.
So 10 new skills when using shortbow. + Of course, 4 new utilities, 1 new heal skill and 1 new elite skill.

+++In creative mood. New Engie Elite spec' DONE, Housing DONE, New asuran expansion DONE, Designing a new lounge "current", New GameMode DONE

As a second idea here for rev (which is not my main) i had an e-spec idea that is fairly different from current rev e-specs because you will get normal utilities and not a new legend in a traditional sense.

    Weapon: Greatsword
Skills change depending on legend similar to trident.
    AoE and utility focussed.

    "Legend": Legendary Avatar Razzah
Channel Razzah to empower your current legend, infusing yourself with new powers.
Legendary Avatar Skills are the new profession mechanic. Its an F3 key that changes your weaponskills into specific skills depending on your current channeled legend. Its an upkeep but also counts as legend swap so you start at 50 energy when entering.
These new skills will enhance your current legend capabbilities and basically complement them.

    Shiro gets ranged attacks.
Jalis blocks and barrier. And melee dmg.
    Ventari mobility and CC.
Mallyx gains more boon corrupt and strip and also more ranged capabbilities.

They count as legendary avatar skills (for traits) and as normal legend skills (i.e when channeling shiro they count as assasin skills) for core traits.
When swapping legends you do not cancel the Avatar channeling.

Utilities: Glyphs: Different effects per legend. Can be asigned to every legend indipendendtly.

    Example: Heal Glyph:
Ventari: Teleport or summon the tablet to your targeted location and heal in an area.
The tablet will instantly teleport and will no longer travel and is now direct AoE.

Mallyx: Heal and transfer conditions to foes arround you, gain additional life per condition transferred.

    Etc.

This would give revs way more flexibility.
They would have new utilities to mix and match and new "weapon skills" they could utilize with their legend.
The F3 functions basically like dervish avatars, just for your channeled legend.
So you also gain some effects depending on traits that also emphasize on your role.

Same. I'd prefer if it functioned more as a polearm with thrusting, cutting and maybe thrown attacks rather than the throw-only spears of GW1 paragons. Really, any new weapons would be great though.

It would be an absolute nightmare to balance & no doubt wildly unpopular, but I would love a potions-centric Engi elite which functioned based on luck in the same way as the Elixir X elite skill.

The thought of the frantic, unpredictable gameplay is really neat to me. Roll the dice & make the best of whatever situation you wind up in.

I wanted an elite spec for Revenant involving Gaheron Baelfire, but with how much the Renegade legend lore involves Flame Legion, I don't see it ever happening unfortunately.

Daud Dreadwyrm | Renegade | Yak's Bend (NA) | I get in trouble a lot apparently

  • I'm waiting for a Mesmer to cause this to happen.hero-mesmer.jpg

More than e-spec, it's more a few mechanisms that I'd like to see introduced by the mea of e-spec:

    • Engineer: An e-spec more focused on "drugs" with "implants" as utilities that work like signet does for other professions.
    • Necromancer: An e-spec that "animate" the shroud, making it a "minion" and glyphs having similar effect than the ranger's shouts. An e-spec where the necromancer drain endurance from it's foes and focus heavily on weakness. (both e-specs can probably be fused into a single one)
    • Ranger: A zoo e-spec based on insects, named the swarmmaster. The pet would be replaced by swarm and utilities would be insects minions.
    • Revenant: A "norn" e-spec with the owl as the legend. F2 become an upkeep transformation and the owl grant utilities with some stealth.
    • Thief: An e-spec that replace stealth by a shadow armor.
    • Warrior: A paragon like e-spec with the burst replaced by shouts and the addition of a few "refrain" on F2-F3-F4.
  • It might sound strange but I would love to have an elite specc that:
They are agile and tricks using fighters. Experts in 1v1 combat and Stelthy ambushes. They can use traps and tricks to gain advantage in combat and don't put morales in first place when they go after their target. They can use Steal to..

Oh I just realized I main Thief

  • I'd love a Revenant legend using dagger or some cool off-hand (warhorn or torch).

    Legends:

    • jotun - stars and runes, neutral (favorites)
    • Razah - not good, not evil
    • kodan - the Voice od Koda, neutral
    • Mursaat - heavily magical powers, evil

I'd love our next legend to be either evil or neutral.

  • Honestly, scourge came pretty close. A dot/debuff/support class.

    Some other ideas:
An elementalist e-spec that allows for viable pure condi gameplay. Maybe an e-spec that relies on dots and debuffs to attack and dodges/evades to survive.

A necromancer e-spec with longer range combat, maybe long-bow or rifle. A minion master type spec that deals in condis and exploits its minion's deaths for effects.

The F1 - F5 skills would summon creatures, then you could use life-force to have them use a skill.

Utility skills either have all your minions perform an action, or they sacrifice your minions to do AoEs and/or combo fields. For example, your heal skill might sacrifice all your minions and heal in an AoE based on how many minions you sacrificed. Your elite might have all your minions pulse poison, blind, and convert boons to conditions for 5~ seconds. After that, your minions die and allies are getting aegis, regeneration, and their conditions are turned into boons.

I might write something up for that e-spec. Useless as it is, it would be fun.

Do you want a balanced GW2? Then you are obliged to unironically agree with this suggestion!

  • Lincolnbeard.1735Lincolnbeard.1735 Member ✭✭✭✭

I'm not a main rev but seeing all those cool legend ideas can't resist the urge to want a legend Alesia.

  • I'd like a berserker but without the condition focus just raw power, could be called Ravager.

  • I thought of another one while sitting on the toilet, it would be called Oppressor, a warrior elite that specializes in heavy tanking/dps using a tower shield and one handing two handed weapons.

  • Raknar.4735Raknar.4735 Member ✭✭✭

Revenant, Varesh Ossa as legend. Greatsword, can switch between a melee mode (Varesh as Dervish) and a ranged mode (Varesh as Paragon)

  • Martial Artist/Brawler for Warrior. With cestus as it's weapon.

I want to punch dragons. In the face.

Longbow elementalist so I can finally use the storm bow gemstone skin I purchased awhile back!

Henge of Denravi - Equinox Solstice [TIME]
    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Jwaz

  • I'm not sure which is my main anymore, but I have the most playtime on Engineer and Elementalist.

For Ele, I'd like to be able to use water offensively, in an ice-mage-style. There are a couple of damage-related water traits (Piercing Shards, Aquamancer's Training), but they don't really fit well with the rest of the water traits or spells. This wouldn't really need a whole elite spec to work - just a trait that converts healing from water spells into damage (with some appropriate modifier, and maybe some extra vulnerability/chill application or something).

For Engineer, I'd like some more imaginative/fantastical weapon/kit options. Thematically I think Elixir Gun is great, but the other kits are basically just real-world weapons with some poison/ice/fire ammo, and I'd like something that more obviously acknowledges the high fantasy setting. Photon Forge is a step in the right direction, but feels a bit too sci-fi.

    Wraith for Necro.
Fast, mobile, high DPS. Loses Shroud healthpool in exchange for something like Holo mode, while getting a invulnerability in their kit, making it competitive as DPS in high end PvE, as well as allowing it to be viable in Plat+ PvP.

Probably wielding Sword, with similar LF gain as Dagger to feed the quickly draining Wraith mode (but not affected by incoming damage), while providing higher damage and a movement ability, such as a ground target shadow step, instead of a self heal.

Also really want a proper Minion Master Necro, but I feel like the above is more what Necro in GW2 needs atm.

"As you know, those who you once called friends have become enemies." ~Glint

  • Thief: an elite spec that Dual wields foci and is monk (kung fu) like. I know we have daredevil for that i just like to punch things.

Guardian: an inquisitor elite spec that is more power focused, and gives boon hate to foes

    Do not rush,
    But move with a purpose.

  • Mesmer: Enchanter from EQ or some other true full-blown support spec that at least double-dips on CC, utility, and boons. Maybe heals too and make staff relevant in PvE on something not Mirage.

Meanwhile every class without a greatsword needs a greatsword.

Longbow based Elementalist (i dont know really what to expect it to do, i juts have a Lightning bow skin and want to use it on my Lightning Focused Ele)
Ranger with Shield and a more defensive aspect (for as little as "tanks" matter in this game one class's espec shouldn't be the only option for the role)
Warhorn Guardian focused heavily on healing/buffing in the style of the Captain from LotRO

I'd love to see a golemancer elite spec for engineer! While the powersuit and golem racial skills are unique and flavorful, they're just not strong enough to build around. Scrapper and turrets seem charr and human focused and low-tech... Where is the coolness and mastery of asuran tech for engineers?

If you look at the wiki, there are 200 or so types of golems in the game. More than enough models to choose from :) Hmm. maybe even assault cubes models instead of gyros/turrets?

Another approach would be building your own 'techy' legendary that would summon a second golem when entering combat w/a cool down, and maybe lower the elite power suit and golem cooldowns? That would allow for an asuran golemancer build - though a golemancer trait line would be awesome. It'd be even more awesome if the character had a way to 'build' their main golem, truly making it theirs as far as offensive/defensive, armaments, color, name, etc.

Champion ABL-01 golem anyone? I'd spend a year collecting whatever to build that, haha.

    Illidan rolls in his grave.

Sword necromancer (dual swords) with solid condi AND power options would be nice, though (yeah, you heard me. We have 9 selectable traits, we can have multiple playstyles in one e-spec. Novel, I know.).

That, or a long-bow based minion master e-spec. Maybe with poison, bleeding, and torment coverage.

Engineer main. Don't want a new elite. Our core spec lines were deprecated to near uselessness to facilitate Scrapper. Kits have been left to rot. Yet we still don't have access to a second base weapon to swap to. Scrapper was later also deprecated to near worthlessness and the second elite, Holosmith, led to further erosion of the core and is so far out balance and out of touch with what Engineers are/have been that I've no trust at all for whatever ANet's brain trust decides to squirt out next in that department. Speculative wishing is a hopeless exercise, but I'm speaking only for myself here.

Dream spec for me would be guardian wielding a 2h spear/polearm. The weapon-skills would be a bit more pvp-focused having a balanced kit of mobility, offence and defence (either evades, blind, weakness, maybe a single block). It would be slightly weaker than the greatsword of course but would have the advantage of being a close-mid range weapon (ranging from 240-450 range on some attacks) and more versatile. The heal/util/elites would be useful for various different situations/game modes as is often the case.

I'd like if the spec brought something to the table that guardian doesn't currently have: the ability to deal with boon-loaded foes. This wouldn't necessarily have to be through boon-rip/corrupt, but there could be like traits where guardian's strikes allow them to ignore Protection, or maybe blocking a strike from a foe removes all of their might stacks, or burn specifically removes resistance.

As I recall, before the trait revamp in 2015, guardians used to have a trait in radiance that allowed them to remove boons from foes when they inflicted burning and that trait was removed. It would be nice if something like that returned in the future.
