"Extremely awesome" WvW Announcement Next Week

Its miss leading clip they where going to a meaning about something that they will talk about to ppl next week. The thing is it could be something like "we want wvw to go this way though out the year" or some other non info info that we get nominal these days.

Based on the updates Anet does to WvW, these are my predictions:

  • Dredge turrets now hit 50 targets
  • Emergency way point now last 5 sec longer to compensate for loading time.
  • Mesmers now can apply more conditions
  • Increase pirate ship range by increasing all range attacks to 3000 units.
  • Remove warrior
  • The chest at the end of the Jumping puzzle now grants an additional 3 silver.
  • The dredge in EBG have open their eyes and now they can be blinded.
  • Veteran creatures now spawn more often to help PvE players complete the daily faster.
  • Fixed a bug where dolyaks could be permanently crippled.
  • The chest drop by the champion creatures in EBG now have a small chance of granting additional BoH.
  • The skirt on the north west borderland, now raid camps less often to reduce false alarms.
  • Fixed a bug where a moa was displaying a texture of a bear.
  • Ambient creatures no longer put you in combat. However, NPC creatures can still put you in combat if attacked.
  • Edge of the mist has been linked and now forms part of WvW.

WvW players, do not get your hopes high. Anet has a history of.....Well, you know...

this would actually sound legit if it was coming from some anet guy :D

the alliance system will be akin to a single name placeholder just like what guilds were in gw1 and whenever the alliance of the server captures SMC, it will be broadcasted to ALL of PvE saying that, "This L33t Alliance [TLAs] has captured the Stone Mist Castle. You have now +50% bonus in getting a pre-cursor." and all of the people in your server will go kill pve mobs trying their luck (or probably WvW mobs [most likely WvW mobs 4 da pips]).

Any form of in game change would be good. Well maybe. :) I was initially hesitant about gliding for instance and have come to really enjoy that as a QoL change. Then again I’ve come to enjoy desert and find that there are some opportunities to have good fights there.

Assuming people aren’t having their garden party inside of fire keep.

probably new epic balance patch.

  • mesmer buffs
  • nekro 1500 range
  • ranger 2000 range and more speed because its needed!!!!
  • more ele nerfs (i think 3 % still playing ele - its too much)
  • more spellbreaker nerf (full counter deals sometimes more than 1000 damage).
  • more buffs to holo
  • more invulnerability to camps ( i think 20 minutes is great!) because roamers are bad for the game!
  • mounts! because there is not enough lag in this game!
  • i think the rewards are too much! reduce them by 50% ..

Good news, everyone! Looks like we are getting mounts in WvW!

Of course, that means that players who do not own PoF will have to be able to rent a mount at home bases like they can in festivals, or zergs would be split between those with mounts and those without. We do not need that.Hopefully they will use the new advanced renting developed for the Labyrinthine Cliffs that keeps the mounts available after dismounting until leaving the map or until the effect runs out.

And mounts would have to be heavily restricted in WvW or people would go crazy on that thing.First of all, they would have to have just 10HP, so a single hit would dismount anyone, so they can't be used as easily to zip past enemies.And their movement abilities would have to be limited to work only in controlled territories, or the mounts themselves not being usable at all except in controlled territories.Probably no having movement abilities at all, and all saving the same speed: 40%, like the blessing of elements so the mount choice in WvW would be just aesthetic. and they would all work the same just as a speed boost. People can sneak into some towers to defend them by gliding over the walls and that can already be annoying since ballistas aren't always enough to deal with that when they come flocking like birds. If springers had their jumps in WvW, we'd have to spread around towers to keep sneaky bunny interlopers away.And of course they would have none of the PvE mastery skills, and only the original engage skill without the mastery bonuses. So way less damage, no boons, no evades...I'd go as far as giving engage skills a 60s or even 120s cooldown so sneaky thieves won't leave combat and enter stealth to use the engage skill again over and over.

Here's hoping we get to ride supply dolyaks to speed them up so escorting them isn't as boring. Of course you would still have no control over where they go so trolls can't just grab them and ride them to their death, they would just run faster in their own path while you ride them, amd kick you out when attacked so you defend them.

Maybe they will even release a new mount designed just for WvW. It could be a Carrier mount. A new dolyak/beast of burden mount that can carry up to 4 other players after you mass its mastery in PvE and max the Mount WvW ability track in WvW. Allowing us to carry newbies around in PvE and WvW so they are not left behind when everyone else runs off in their mounts.

Oh, oh. And what if they reworked the already existing WvW mounts with the mount mechanics? Golems!Imagine if they changed the golem transformation to actually show the head of your character riding it. They could modify the golem models so they look more like a huge powersuit, with the head, shoulders and part of the chest and arms showing under a transparent glass or magic barrier.To avoid having the model riding the golem cliping out of it, they could use the same trick they used for the bobblehead laboratory, and shrink the body parts that are not visible. So while we would not see it, inside the golem the characters would look like

so their body parts do not stick out of the golem.

They could even introduce siege skins that use the mount system too. Imagine building a ballista that has a seat on the side, and riding on the seat and following the the ballista as it turns, like a Bofors cannon.

Maybe even introduce a new siege machine that costs quite some supply to build, but that can turn between mobile and siege modes. In siege mode it would deal AoE damage and do about as much damage as a normal catapult, and in mobile mode it would be single target and do about 75% damage of a ballista and move as fast as normal player running speed in combat.


But what if it isn't mounts...?Hm... what else would be awesome...?Maybe ...

  • Initial release of WvW seasons rolled out on a trial basis before they introduce alliances so they can gather data sooner to improve them.
  • A third borderlands map so each Borderlands is different. We have the blue icy alpine and the red sandy desert. So a third map would likely have to be a green. Grasslands, woodlands, forests, jungles, swamps, mangroves, etc...
  • Alpine borderlands getting Shrines and bonus effects on the keeps when their 3 shrines are captured so people can also get Blessing of Elements in Alpine. It could be something like this:
    • Bay keep : Shrines of Water.
      • 1 Shrine would enable a water djinn transformation by using a large djinn lamp in the keep. The water djinn would have similar stats to the Hellfire hound, and 3 skills that would have the same exact behavior to the hellfire hound skills, but watery visuals instead flames.
      • 2 Shrines freezes the lake, creating ice bridges on the surface. The ice bridges would be slippery for enemies, and the lake water would deal chilled for 2s every 20s to enemies who go underwater. Allies would be immune to the slippery effect and get 10% swimming speed inside the keep territory instead.
      • 3 Shrines enables the fast travel pads, which look like geysers that engulf the character in a bubble to throw them to the next pad.
    • Hills keep: Shrines of Lightning.
      • 1 Shrine enables a series of Lightning rods scattered through the keep. When enemies get close to them, they will zap them dealing just a bit of damage, and a short blindness and vulnerability. Each rod would charge up for 3 seconds before firing again.
      • 2 Shrines enables 3 devices in the west wall of the canyon below the keep bridge. 1 north, 1 south, one right under the bridge. Allies can use them to get zapped by lightning and teleported up to the keep.
      • 3 Shrines enables the fast travel pads that look like lightning rods. They turn the user into spark elementals and thrown between the rods.
    • Garrison keep: Shrines of Ice
      • 1 Shrine activates a series of ice blocks scattered thorough the keep's territory, making them emit a thick blue mist. Enemies that enter the blue mist will get crippled, and allies will get resistance.
      • 2 Shrines creates a thin white mist around the keep. The white mist would make allies harder to see to enemies, and enemies easier to spot by allies.
      • 3 Shrines enables 3 thermal tubes like those from season 3. Using them would of course not require PvE masteries, but they would work exactly the same, firing the character off after they enter.
  • New WvW meta-events other than the central ruins. Each meta would be a supply line from the supply camps to the nearest objectives. While all objectives in a supply line are controlled, the towers and keeps within that meta get regular bonus supply, and players who participated in capturing and defending objectives, sentries and dolyaks within the supply line get bonus rewards based on participation.
  • Better WvW support for Guild vs Guild.
  • A new guild upgrade that allows using the guild hall as a GvG map. You buy it, thalk with an NPC and the guild hall reloads in WvW mode with the WvW skill ruleset. Now you can talk with the arena NPCs to switch teams and place WvW siege and some new GvG decorations like flags to play capture the flag.
