Consider One Small Mirage Change

Hello. I am a high level pvp player and multiclasser, and for the most part I feel the patch will be interesting and addresses most of the problem specs with good nerfs. However, the chaos staff build is left largely untouched by this patch, and is the build most people will refer to as the one that is frustrating to play against. Its is a build characterized by high defensive utility with damage applied largely from clones through autoattacks and infinite horizon. It has very few windows of vulnerability and throughout the fight there are periods where the opposing player cannot do anything due to reflects and mirage cloak on clones.

With all this in mind, I would be grateful if you would consider one minor addition to the patch.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Evasive_Mirror

Increase the cooldown of this trait to 4-5s (was 1.5s)

Currently, whenever a mirage evades (not just dodge), they get up to 3 seconds of projectile immunity in the form of either their evade or this trait after the dodge. This is especially oppressive with scepter's evade (6s cd) added to the mirage build. This change would create a 2-3 second window after the mirror expires where the opposing player will have the opportunity to use their projectile skills without fear of incoming reflects damaging themselves. Smart players will be able to watch the mirage's bar and will time their skills to this window. This will add counter play for projectile based builds and weapons against this chaos staff mirage build and will ease the frustration of players who fight this build.

I disagree and here's what and why.

Slapping a low ICD on a trait removes the ability to predict and play around a trait without counting it in your head especially when it's a relatively short ICD like 5s.

Instead they should tie the reflect to a skill, like they did with master of manipulation. In my opinion changing Evasive Mirror to 4s mirror on heal with a 20s ICD (there to avoid mantra abuse, 20s ICD means the mirror effect happens every heal) would allow people to predict and play around the trait much easier while giving a greater degree of control to the user. It's win win.

Iirc was new with specialisation patch (one of the replacements for things like 1200 range blink trait that got streamlined, and reshuffle of Duelling line), but got buffed after some time. Ah just checked wiki, yeah it started at 1.5s/1.5icd later was buffed to 2s with same icd.

On this subject of "one small change", - sure they can change Evasive Mirror, if they also bother to redesign Elusive Mind at the same time... /salt

Yeah but its only broken with the combination of Mirage Cloak which effectively reduces the chance to hit the mirage with projectiles to 0. I mean its obvious..

Also for a very long time the blind trait was stronger withthe combination of Ineptitude. But that combo has been nerfed like 10 times.

Yea see I cant comment too much on it as I rarely play ranged projectile builds but I can understand how it might shut down a ranger longbow pretty hard

Make the trait proc its effect on projectiles only

Make the cooldown two times longer than reflect duration. Two ways to do that imo: cooldown at 4 seconds provided the cooldown effect starts after the reflection effect finishes; cooldown at 6 seconds so that the cooldown’s effect procs at the start of the reflect.

I agree, let's nerf evasive mirror so all mesmers go blinding dissipation again, then we'll complain about that one and nerf it too.Had this wonderful idea, every time you cleanse one condi all your condi cleanse skills cd go up 4 seconds for each condi successfully cleanse.Oh and this one too, every time you mitigate damage via protection all your protection skills go up 4 sec for each hit you mitigate.Or having perma damage mitigation and condi immunity is fine?
