D/D Weaver--instacast/no-cast time idea

What if the following skills became instacast with a slight delay and tell (0.5s) before doing damage:

  • Plasma Burst, Ashen Blast, Katabatic Wind, Grinding Stones

Basically after this proposed idea, the following skills will flash a certain double set of color (Plasma Burst is Fire/Air, so it will flash purple and orange, for 0.5s, etc.) to notify the enemy when the attack approaches.

Why? Well this will allow for potent combos that will surely allow for more damage/utility potential. You can cast these while using any of the evade skills. You can even cast them while using Twist of Fate.

I think this would be the change to make D/D a thing in all 3 game modes. It's simple but very effective. You can even one-shot an enemy by precasting Glyph of Elemental Power (Fire), Fire Grab, and Ashen Blast or Plasma Burst, then using Lightning Flash and Arcane Blast simultaneously and double attuning (or single attuning if using Plasma Burst) into Air attunement.

Hopefully this gets considered as it can make D/D viable and a more offensive option than Sw/D.


  • I included Grinding Stones, but it might not be need to be included since it's not a one-time attack but rather a long effect which is counterintuitive to the color tell idea. So it could be the first three skills instacast while the other three remain with a cast time.

    So for anyone curious, the way this suggestion works is similar to the new Convergence skill just no cast time. I'm very happy with Convergence as it synergizes well with many skills! Now for the dual attacks to become the same way... :)

    its the cast time on the evade skills thats holding dd back a bit atm. else its in a good spot.

    I have an idea for this (probably not original), all this dual attack mess.

    Why not remove the dual attack from #3, no more mixing, leave Unravel as is, and introduce an F5 mechanic, which is simply the dual attack?

    Then rework the messed up dual attacks.

    Pull the strings. Watch them dance.

    I quite like that idea--but I'm doubtful that it would be implemented. Anet is pressuring every elite spec for a tradeoff it seems.
