Happy Alliances milestone month!

Recommended Posts

World vs. World that came with the release of Guildwars 2 in 2012 is said to be largely inspired by the RvR of Dark Age of Camelot from 2001.

The Path of Fire expansion came late september 2017, plans for World restructuring were likely laid down thereafter and announced shortly into 2018.

It is now april 2019 and it has been 18 months since work on the World restructuring likely began.

Dark Age of Camelot was developed, by 25 people, in 18 months - the entire game.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Age_of_Camelot#Development_history

Happy milestone month! Can we get an update on the World restructuring project(s)? A roadmap? A new path after the fire?

Why are you comparing Alliances with Dark Age of Camelot? You are comparing:

  • Moving from match-ups based on servers to based on guilds - which means a much higher level of granularity, an almost restructuring of how match-ups are set up (hence the name World Restructuring), which means a lot of new code to be written, a lot of new design problems, new UI, new ways to analyze play time for better overall coverage, etc.vs.
  • A RvR game mode in which player can choose a realm - so as far as I can see there's no need for linking players for guilds together, no need to worry about coverage, no need to rework and redo existing systems, no need to worry about compatibility with existing stuff. Overall a lot less things to worry about.

That being said, I agree we need an update on the project. It's been roughly 4 months since the last updates, and the last updates came within ~5 months of the previous ones, so I'm expecting an update soon.

(Also Ep. 6 is expected around a month from now (That_Shaman's speculation and many others') - just saying).

When they announced Alliances it was nothing more than a thought. They hadn't even started actually laying out the process plan at that point. Simply went online and told us they had this idea and that they would likely "SOON" start the design of it. Who knows how much actual work has been put into it at this point... as people have pointed out it doesn't look like many resources are assigned to this 'not so small' project.

Seriously, do not expect anything for WvW anymore.

Besides more changes that actually are cutting the effort for 1 meta blob timezone vs empty servers.

We had links borking up even more the game, and now Omniblobs can take strucutures faster due Anet changes on structures.´Expect a fake alliance system that can be manipulated by oraganized mafia guild fighthing servers that they shouldnt be figthing... cause that's where win comes by in this game, be a douche be a lamer and a win m8 knock at your door.

wondering how the 2nd and 3rd and so on .. accounts will be handled in alliances .. or the Problem with loosing players .. will the alliance still be shown as full without the possibility to recruit new players ? Or how this is gonna work? .. RS 4 example is still shown "full" but having maybe half the manpower than other (especially linked) servers .. how will they fix this issues ? just wondering ...
