Returning player need help!

I stopped playing about a year and a half ago. I had a maxed out Weaver and Necromancer. The Wizard has pink gear and the Necromancer is wearing orang-ish gear. Could anyone tell me which class is doing better right now? Clearly my mage mage is better geared but I remember playing the necromancer because of his solo and pvp effectiveness. Also, any build guides would be helpful. Feeling a bit overwhelmed.

First of all, gear with pink outlines is called ascended, gear with orange outlines is exotic. Then, the class that has Weaver as an elite specialisation is called Elementalist. As for your question, both Elementalist and Necromancer are excelent in all three gamemodes. Both are very effective in sPvP, although each in different role - Weaver as a sidenoder/duellist, Scourge as a teamfighter/support. Both are seeing use in PvE endgame - Weaver as pure DPS and Scourge (that's the Necromancer's elite spec) as a support trough barrier, but it can also be used as a condi DPS. And in WvW, Scourge is currently the N1 spec for big "zerg" fights, Weaver can either be used as a glasscannon backline DPS if you preffer staff gameplay, or as a roamer/1v1'er if you preffer sword/x.

Also keep in mind both use light armor, and your ascended gear is account bound - meaning you can freely move your "pink" gear from your ele to your necro should you need in order to have the best possible stats :)

Just make sure you wash it before you put it back to your Ele.
