Rurik's Engagement Ring... Non-salvageable?

Is there a way to dispose of it without straight up destroying it?

Though you can upgrade it, by way of infusing or attuning it, and so also reset the stat selection. Allowing for a new stat te be chosen. if attuned and infused however, you can only remove any infusions, any stat chosen will be fixed from that moment till the end of it's days ....
