Dreamreaver.4908
They're warriors who got exposed to the mists and somehow forgot how to use most of their weapons. Least that's what I gathered from HoT/ living story lore.
VocalThought.9835
I thought they represented all the classes that didn't make it from GW1. Monk, Dervish, Ritualist, Assassin, and Paragon.
Knighthonor.4061
Dervish and Ritualist.
Hyper Cutter.9376
They're pretty much a dervish with the human-centric aspects replaced by more race-neutral ones.
Loki.4871
IIRC the devteam state at some point they the class's mechanics trace themselves back to GW1 Ritualists that could channel the power of ancestor spirits (read: use bundles). In the much the same way, the Revenant channels the power of certain spirits. So in terms of crunch the engineer is Ritualist MK2 while the revenant is in terms of fluff more Ritualist MK II. InsaneQR.7412
Channeling legal nds mimics the aspect of channeling God avatars so this is more dervish like. The whole theme is more similar to ritualist.

Elric.4713
Out of all the professions Revenant is the most like the Ritualist thematically. We wear blindfolds, have heavy connection to the Mists, we channel Legends while Rit was using the ashes of Canthan heroes, we invoke spirits as Renegades, third eye is our icon and Champion Ritualist is our title. Vasdamas Anklast.1607
Hmmmmm dunno. If my revenant was a regular power rev i'd probably say yes - child of ritualist and assassin. However as far as it goes, I suspect more than 2 persons were involved in that affair. With either warrior, ritualist, assassin or necromancer being very loose female. But heeey, it could have been much worse. cough Ventari coughP.S Dwarves are cool dudes too mmkay

Knighthonor.4061
Revenants deal with Mist magic, which is what Ritualist deals with.Revenants invoke the spirits of legends into their physical body.Dervish invoke the spirits of legends into their physical body.
