Newb looking for adventurers

Recommended Posts

I've played mmos since before pepperidge farm could remember and made my way into this world recently. I looked up the usual newb classes to start with and they were boring and I didn't want to get too in depth with those classes, so I chose Engineer for a challenge. Right now I'm level 37, just doing map completions and exploring as much as possible. Trying to figure out builds and how stats work with each build. These zones are really fun so far, Storymode seems a little lackluster and boring, so I will come back to finish later. Following the stories in each zone has been more immersive to me so far. Any input in this area is welcome, if I'm missing something by not doing more of my personal story I would like to know.I am absolutely loving the Engineer utility the class has to offer, this is what I feel like an engineer should be in a fantasy game. And I would like to meet other people, or join a guild, not really sure how the social aspect is in this game. From what I gather, you can be in multiple guilds? I would also like to meet some people on Discord, is that just a guild specific thing? Still a newb to discord, I have an account set up and am sorta familiar enough to get in a voice chat. Last time I used a voice chat service was Vent, so I might need a crash course on using some of the features in Discord.I have been leveling at a casual pace, taking my time to explore each area before moving on. If anyone else has an affinity for explosives and wants to learn with me and level together and eventually get into some PvP and WvW.Was told I was a man of culture in game one day because my name is Engy Splody, currently on Yak's Bend Server.

Regarding the story, it's up to you really. Personally I agree with you that the maps own smaller story arcs tend to be better done than the actual "Personal Story", but there are bound to be people that disagrees with that. Bottom line is do as you like. Only thing I'd recommend is to finish Personal Story before moving onto the "Living Story" and Expansion Packs etc, it isn't that hard to pick up on what has happened, but it feels like it fits together a bit better that way. Btw the Dungeons also has a own story line through them, that you don't need to do etc for the rest of the story.

Your account (not per-character) can be a member of up to five guilds.

It is. Some guilds prefer TeamSpeak, and you'll find some World Boss(1) event-clearance organisers prefer it for its channel management features.

(1) The Bossest of the GW2 World Bosses put all other MMORPG World Bosses I've ever seen to shame.(2) The Bossest of them all is probably Triple Trouble, which is, in fact, three World Boss scale foes on the same map that must be taken down simultaneously (er, with small margin, but it's only small) for the overall event to succeed.

(2) There are "mere" champion-level bosses in GW2 that can out-fight most of SWTOR's world bosses.

Thank you for the info! I try to get on here and read some stuff for new players, but it really is overwhelming at first. Slowly getting the hang of the rotations and builds with my class. Tried out other classes, and going to work on Mesmer and Elementalist next after I get him to max and run some stuff. I haven't even ran a dungeon yet, only reasons for that; is because I don't want others to feel like they're carrying me while I'm learning this class. I already die alot on Champions, so I don't know the difficulty involved in dungeons.I know some games have their elitist type players, so I try to avoid conflict in groups cause I'm so new. Seriously thanks for the info.

Yeah I really wasn't trying to cause a debate with anyone, so I get what ya mean. I just hit 40 early and might spend some time catching the story up to where I'm at, so I can try the later on stories. I still need to get the latest xpac, so some stuff is still unavailable. I wanted to test out leveling and everything from the past before I committed that much. I do enjoy this game tho, and I'm sure the stories get better at later levels. Thank you for the feedback!
