Can the Choya Pinata be a little more tankier?

Legit didn't even have time to hit it on a Melee character before it was dead. I think this mob needs some more vitality and toughness.

It needs better scaling. Less HP for smaller groups, and exponentially more based on the number of players.

Before this event I'd seen the pinata fail multiple times, now it goes down in seconds.

This. It will fail with not enough people especially if it spawns near the gate.

How do you miss it? It is invul for a few seconds, then it takes atleast about 10 secs for it to go completely down. Did you not react fast enough?

This. You even get a 50 second (or something) warning that it's about to spawn, and it always spawns in roughly the same area - y'know, the one where 40 people are sitting on their springers. No doubt the boss dies very quickly, but I've had 100% success rate killing him on my Revenant by first attacking with springer, then pressing my 1 key.

The only reason you aren't tagging it is if you're not waiting at the correct place (again, look for 40 springer mounted people) or if you got to the map too late, which is your own fault.

I agree that the scaling could use some adjustment. When there's a very large group and it spawns in the far corner, it's possible for it to be dead before everyone can get to it. When there's a very small group and it spawns by the gate, it's sometimes impossible to kill it, even if everyone starts on a springer. Failure should be a possibility, but right now we have a case where it's a guarantee on one end, and a case on the other end where it's so impossible to fail that people who are actively waiting for the event to begin can miss participation just by using their bunny jump a half-second too early.

    Good luck, have fun.

I won't dispute your statement, but that isn't what I've seen at all.

I think I've killed the choya about 5-6 times over the past few days, and in every case, after the 3rd round ends players congregate near the waypoint on their bunnies. As the boss spawns, he has invuln for about 1-2 seconds, but by then you should already be moving. Once invuln drops he is bunny CCd, and dies in maybe 5 seconds, perhaps a bit longer - I've never timed it. Point is, if a player is at their keyboard and at the correct spot when the timer counts down, there is no possible way I can see them not having time to land a single auto-attack before the boss dies. Even without a mount, a ranged attack will connect.

The boss isn't getting nuked down inside of 1-2 seconds, at least not in my experience.

I did one night before last that I almost missed, and I was in the middle of the pack. I'm sure several of the folks behind me weren't able to get so much as a bunny-toe on it, since all I managed was a Springer 1 and a Longbow 2 and it was dead before my Rapid Fire finished firing. Between lag/latency/FPS-drop issues that can be exacerbated by all the clustered particle effects and variations in reaction times among players (some of us are Olds), all it can take to miss out on it is the space of one brief screen-freeze hiccup that ties your Springer to the starting point for a couple of seconds. There's plenty of room to scale it up a bit more at the upper end, and it wouldn't be unreasonable to nerf it a smidge at the lower end.

The lower end could probably be solved by removing the spawn point right at the gate, since it's usually a matter of there not being enough time to do a second CC rotation before it hits the end of the bridge if it started at the gate when it's a small group.

    Good luck, have fun.

Not everyone needs to be on a springer when this things spawns. There seem to be more than enough. Just walk in and press 1

It may need higher scalling up to at least 50 players, but increasing its base vitality and toughness would make it too difficult when there's less people.

I agree that failure should be a possibility, but only if the majority of the people there are not putting in proper effort. I don't wanna feel cheated out and forced to wait for an event to happen again based on pure chance.

But if there is 10 people and they are all just auto attacking and not even trying to CC, yeah they should fail.

I think most POF meta events have bad scaling, it either too much or too little. The pinata seems that it stops scaling at x amount of people.

I’ve been doing the event since they added the daily chests and it has only been killed very quickly during the meta rush. Any change would only really impact players for the duration of the meta rush.

If this is an annual thing, you’re essentially asking Anet to make changes that occur one week out of the year which can easily be avoided by players paying attention to when/where the event begins and by doing actual damage. I mean, there's plenty of time to mash all of your skills before it dies.

The thing is that when it comes to adjustments, a wrecking ball tends to be used than say a chisel. That's why I'm hesitant for any changes and also because there's still more the player can do on their end to ensure credit for the event/kill.

Yeah I can see waiting until after the event to determine how interest levels out after the introduction of the daily chest but ideally the scaling would accommodate any but the absolute lowest interest level. Bc it's scaling. But again it's fine as is, just could be better . . .

No more changes for one-week crazes please, i'm glad the alpha beetle is at least still fairly doable solo for pros....

Before meta week, i saw more fail choya maps than successful ones, it rarely ever succeeded due to high hp and huge defiance bar so without a commander tag/mentor rallying peeps to choya the group was mostly too small.. That said, i DO wonder if it has any scaling issues; small groups struggle to break that bar even once, yet a zerg can have it broken and dead within 4 seconds. Is it not scaling, or is it just scaled very badly?

To be fair, prior to them adding a Hero chest, very few had incentive to farm the Choya. I myself had killed it 1 or 2 times before this week. I imagine after the blitz is over, you will still have many people waiting for it to spawn, given it's a super fast way to a gemstone.

For funsies this morning, I decided to pay more attention to the surroundings and the TTK. I was able to count to 6 Mississippis from the time I used Springer bomb to when the Choya died. I don't care what computer you have or how bad the latency, I find it difficult to believe (though maybe not impossible?) that a player cannot land a single hit if they are where they are supposed to be when the Choya spawns. Again, I can't prove definitively that it never happens (can't prove a negative anyways) but I find it highly improbable.

Worth noting was as the timer to spawn the Choya ticked down to 10 seconds, the commander issue a squad announcement calling on all the "blues" who weren't at the waypoint to hurry up and get to tag. So if people are not getting this boss tagged, I have to assume it's because they weren't where they were supposed to be.

In any case, as Lexi said above, this will all change in a week. I feel strongly that there will be large groups waiting to kill the Choya hereafter, but nowhere near the same amount of interest.

This is why I think it could use a scaling adjustment. Sure, the large-group problem might not be a problem this time next week, but the small-group problem will still be there. And if they're adjusting the scaling anyway, they might as well look at both ends of the line while they're at it.

    Good luck, have fun.

You didn't hit it with a melee character?
    What are you doing wrong?
    Waiting for half a minute?
    Running from across the map?
I've never seen it die faster than about half a minute. If you're not around.. or are idle until the boss is almost dead..i don't know how to help you.
It spawns right next to the waypoint.
You'll have plenty of time to spam your 1 button before it dies.

So please, help me, help you.
How are you unable to hit the boss in a half minute time frame when you know when we where it spawns?

It has at least two other spawn locations, one of which is over by the corner of the wall to the north of the waypoint, and right now, it's dying in under 10 seconds, due to being a quick and easy part of the meta event.

Which is more than enough time to tag it. By Tuesday at reset, this won’t be an issue anymore and it’ll go back to taking 30+ seconds.

  • It seriously needs a MASSIVE HP buff. With the introduction of Hero's Choice Chests to PoF metas, a lot more people are doing said metas. And, since a lot of people are doing these metas, there's going to be like 80 people doing the Crystal Desert casino event, because of that, when the pinata spawns, it literally dies in like 2 seconds, and, since everyone is spamming skills, there's a massive amount of lag the second it spawns, making it very hard to even land a hit on it and get participation on the event.
The health needs to be buffed to like 20 times the current amount or something, or at least add some scaling so it increases if there's more people, I'm tired of not getting any participation on the event because I didn't manage to land a hit on said 2 seconds.

  • Turkeyspit.3965Turkeyspit.3965 Member ✭✭✭✭

And yet recently I saw the event almost fail, as there were only 15 players there, and many of them didn't understand what CC was...

And the piñata has never died "literally" in "2 seconds". Even during the Blitz it would survive at least 6-8 seconds. If a player is unable to tag the piñata with their 1-key in 6-8 seconds, I'd say they are then undeserving of an Amalgamated gemstone. This game has to require at least 'something' from the player to earn a reward, no?

I never had a problem to hit it. It lives long enough for everyone to get reward.

  • Not everyone has a high end pc, there are plenty of younger people who play, that cannot afford good gaming equipment, as somebody who struggles with 1-5 fps and 2k ping after an hour of path of fire, i can say in my 3 years of playing i have only managed to graze the choya twice out of several attempts because of lag, and 90% of the time it is dead within 5 seconds year round.

I agree. I also experience huge lag when in Amnoon, which makes it really problematic when there is a massive crowd of people.

Also, it would be nice to do something about the like 90% of people just afking during the pre-events but getting the same exact rewards as those few fools (like myself) who actually do the pre.
Or at least add some new items with those casino coins, that would be awesome too :)

Lower the character model limit. If that doesn’t work then reduce the other graphic settings.

You’re looking at like 3-5 coins depending on the round in order for them to “do their part”. If adjustments are to be made here then they must be made to every other meta with pre-events. People who don’t do portals to spawn SB don’t get credit. People who don’t do the pre-events for Modnir don’t get credit. People who don’t help claim at least one camp in SSC don’t get credit. The list can certainly go on.

I just did this event on EU on a Monday Morning - so definitely not peak times - and the choya died in a few seconds. Several people said they didn't get enough time to attack it, so they got nothing. :(

It doesn't happen every time I do the event, and I don't do it that often, but it seems like it's getting more common that it dies insanely fast and some people miss out.

It doesn't need to get buffed, there's enough time to attack if you're not afking.
