    Main hand focus because Necromancer's focus needs more focus.

    Main hand horn so complaints about off hand horn's nerf can be heard.

    There we go, short bow! 120 range AA with mobility, burning, and high bleed burst on 4 of 5 skills. Use it to open with a melee condi dps burst and gap-closers. Must do 20% to 30% more dps than scepter, support aggro control with invulnerability and gap closers, work with Curses and Death Magic, and meld with scepter and dagger builds.

    Axe Off-hand, just because it will give us a reason to complain that spiteful talisman CD reduction don't work with Axe off-hand and it will take them 2 years to give us an answer in the form of a tooltip fix stating that spiteful talisman effect apply only to main-hand axe and focus.

    Skill 4 should be a 20s cooldown 600 range rush skill (which does not require a target to be usable for mobility) that knocks down the target on impact.
    Skill 5 should be a 30s cooldown 3s block that builds up life force when blocking.

    The new shroud should be melee range with one leap skill but in contrast to reaper shroud only single target oriented but with boon sharing for allies.

    --> necro tank/support with good duelling capabilities.

    I really don’t like the idea of shield for necro, personally. Sword would probably make the most sense, but I voted longbow because of the spider longbow skin and because it could be interesting to have another ranged option for necro.

    I'm a little unsure of what I would like to see for the new shroud though in terms of whether it should be like Reaper Shroud and lock out HP/Utilities or like Scourge Shades that does not lock HP/Utilities.

    Reaper Shroud locks out Utilities is sad but at least there was a clear purpose of going into Shroud and doing certain things like mobility or damage or defense.

    Scourge Shades does not lock out Utilities but is sad that offense and defense are all rolled into the skills, making it half less effective during many fights.
    If it was normal Shroud, I could enter Shroud to tank damage without wasting any of the offensive Shroud skills.
    But on Scourge Shades, if I'm going to defend, I need to use them for barriers like F3 and F5.
    But they also happen to be offensive skills and if my opponents are not in range/shade or have their own defenses up like blocks/invulnerables, then the offense is wasted.

    It is also sad that part of the damage and preventing counter-bursts comes from spamming the skills.
    Maybe I'm just playing Scourge wrong but it makes me want to spam instead of timing them for proper moments.

    ANet would rather give us barrier than block and cripple/chill than a rush skill.

    Sword. Necro is the only profession that can't use it. Every other profession that can't use it with their core spec can with their elite spec. It would just make sense to me. I also think depending on what they do with Shroud, it could work quite well for Necro. A faster melee weapon like Dagger perhaps with some better utility or range would be really nice.

    Elite specs/weapons I'd like to see:

    Dual Swords - Wraith/ghostly spec using thief-like movement and stealth, or Vampire Lord based on blood and life force

    Rifle - Dark steampunk engi-like Plague Doctor using elixirs

    Shield - that Bone Dancer/Bonemancer idea that was posted a while back, with bone armor & cages and immobilize/bleeds

    I had an idea a while back for Plaguedoctor spec using sword and elixirs.

    Overall very well designed. I'd like it more, if it was a double sword spec tbh. Cause there's nothing that really goes well with those skills.
    Only thing that I don't like is having 2 traits that improve one shroud skill.
    Maybe switch out one to be: 20% longer duration for elixirs
    Or something like that.
    Sword 4 could have an evade frame, and sword 5 something with immobilize and big power dmg

    Gimme a sword! I'd like double sword(just like war got double dagger). And movement skill attached to it.
    If we can't have sword focus main hand might be interesting, or axe off hand too.

    We need range beyond the crappy staff so I'd vote for pistol in both main or offhand https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nightwing I'd love to have axe pistol on my necromancer!
    My second choice would be shield to absorb damage and have it combined with the Necromancer shroud like a bone shield.

    I love the idea of a longbow ... like some kind of life sucking ranged concept, similar to how DH VoJ works? You tether someone, they loss HP maybe? I guess, like dagger, but ranged ... haven't really thought it through.

    Not enough range for a caster with barely any cc survival, so though i would love a sword ritualist, i have to stick to my vampire longbow (or vampire hunter dual pistols with crossbow skins)

    I made a necromancer vampire spec a while ago, You could check that and see if it’s similar to your idea as I am really hoping something like that happens. (Might have called it Vampire hunter at the time)

    I would like something like this:
    Shroud now only empower your weapon (LF don't block anymore damage done to you), 5% LF drain but at the same time you can continue to gain it from skills/deaths:

    • when active Dagger/axe/scepter #1,2,3 don't change but inherit shroud traits, and #4,5 become are the same from the core shroud
    • when active Staff inherit skills from reaper (the old weaker version)
    • Shield #4 is a parry: pulse stability, add a 5% LF drain and redirect all damage to LF for a few seconds (channeled skill, you can move, can't be healed),

      • Shield #4 when "shroud" is active get a cumulative LF drain (5 from "shroud" + 5 from the skill), the skill works the same but also get #4 core shroud effect and traits
    • Shield #5 create a moving gravity well like the portals of Legendary Stavemaster Adryn

      • Shield #5 when "shroud" is active is the same but also get #5 core shroud effect and traits (centered on the well)
    • Shadow skills and traits to help mobility and disengage... including a blink, creation of shadow clones, and a fade skill to gain immunuity to damage

    Well, maybe this is too much :p

    I think Anet would only give us blocks and invulnerability if a new spec doesn't use a lift force and shroud like reaper and core. If it's more like Scourge which offers a F bar then a shield makes a lot of sense. I designed a Minion master elite spec that used shield for this reason, because its shroud skill was designed to he relatively fickle, requiring some set up when comparing it to a normal shroud. So a shield would work well as a complimentary to a shroudless spec, like Scourge.

    So here's how I look at it. We should have shroud specs and shroudless specs. Multiple each. So like a Vampiric spec having a shroud makes sense since one of the ideas of vampires in folklore is their ability to transform and turn to mist or animals. A plague Doctor would also work with a shroud because it has this idea that the shroud is protecting them from disease that they themselves are spreading and containing. Minion Master would work best without a shroud because it gives you the ability to better control the minions through your utility and your 5 skills which can offer a unique playstyle for Minion masters that we don't currently see in gw2. A Witch/Hex mage type elite spec would work better without a shroud to, having the ability to lay curses or their own unique condition which they can change the properties of using their F skills.

    These are some ideas as to how they could be divided. I pick shield as my preferred because I'd rather have a minion master right now as opposed to a vampiric spec. Although I'd he happy with either. And a shield is just a better option for a shroudless spec.

    Jokes aside, I think hammer could work pretty good as I already got some kind of idea for a specialisation called the "Punisher". Also I'd like to see more usage of hammers and I have hopes for hammer since it's pretty trash for all overall professions (just like longbow is trash for all professions except for condi ps berserker which isn't used anymore) which is sad because of the potential it has and some cool skins. Staff suffers from that issue as well beside lb and hammer and it makes me sad having crafted Nevermore and only using it as a heal druid or frontline guard in wvw when it could have so much potential for necromancers as well if these useless mark were removed.

    Here is my list of characters i got so far:

    Elementalist 80 with tempest:Talman nul
    Necromancer 80 with reaper:Zex vokar
    Mesmer level 80 no chrono yet:Klanga voosh.
    Level 80 Ranger with druid spec Jedkhan.

    I was interested to see which weapons people wanted or thought necro should have for its next spec. I was kinda surprised by shield's popularity but it makes sense, given so many people want a more defensive spec.

    I wouldnt be so fast to decry the possibility of more especs. There has to be something major comming with ls5, I simply cant imagine it is just a sole map with a bit of story and nothing more.

    Necro has the LEAST ammount of choice in terms of weapons.

    Youre choosing 2 out of 4 mainhands.

    2 are power.
    2 are condi.

    Realistically there is no choice what mainhands are concerned, as the greatsword is 5er. So i vote for a 3-series mainhand
