Ascended Food not working with Metabolic Primer [sorted]

I tried using my ascended food with Metabolic Primer to get 12 hour boon.

but i only gave me 5 mins (not even if the normal 1 hours) instead of giving me the full 12 hours.Even when i try to use my ascended with the prime, it doesn't otherwrite the food effect.

Edit - i didn't know it actually spawned the food next to me, as i was running about in group i didn't notice it spawning.To be honest I think ascended food should changed slightly to make you consume the food upon placing it so this doesn't happen again.Because I thought it was just normal food, you use it like others and go.
