Lily of the Elon: Direct City Access?

I appreciate the suggestions and understand the various work-arounds, what I don't understand is why these work-arounds are necessary. The Lily of the Elon is supposed to be a convenience and we pay for that convenience. And there is even a path "in the direction of" the city - why doesn't that path lead conveniently into the city? Why does it stop at a closed door? Very odd.

These areas are called "Deluxe Areas" in the Wiki - is there any other "Deluxe Area" that requires you to jump over, around, etc in order to get into the related city?

This pass was very disappointing to me. IMO it is the worst pass out of all of them. Everything is spread out and it doesn't give the convenience of the others. It certainly doesn't feel like a luxury area that offers "convenience and comfort to those in the know". For me it really only works a quick portal to Crystal Oasis. I use my other passes for everything else. I wish Anet would consider a redesign.

I just swim out of there. There is even a faint path to follow in the water - looks like the letter 'T'. You just walk out the gap where the path begins and swim to the right to the sloping bank. I do agree though. A more elegant and convenient exit would be much appreciated.

The Lava Lounge in Ember Bay is on a high plateau on a cliff on an island at the southwest end of the map. I've seen people jump out of it and glide, but it really doesn't provide convenient access to anything.

What exactly do you expect it to "provide convenient access" to? It's Ember Bay, there is nowhere to go to anyway.

The Lily of Elon is a very different story, because it's attached to the expansion's capital, so to speak. That door was put there for a reason, but apparently someone hasn't unlocked that content yet. It's about time.

I think of it as a "kitten! I just did something REALLY stupid" icon in my inventory that happens to have various services in the area.

The door doesn't seem to lead to anything special. You can kinda see between the doors in the middle.

The other side of the door is inside the casino, at the back of Zalambur's office. From the looks of things, it's just a hallway from the office inside the casino that leads outside. I guess they didn't want us trampling through the office.

And the Lily of the Elon does have 1 perk: 1 of the merchant's next to the laurel vendor allows you to buy 5 trader's keys per day, along with Hamaseen crates that give crafting materials, and the Spearmarshal armor recipes you unlock for purchase as you progress through the story chapters. Basically the same as renowned heart vendors. So that's an extra 5 keys and more crafting materials a day you can purchase. It also has bounty boards, but nothing exclusive. It also has an ecto gambler like the casino.

Well, the only real "perk" is being able to buy an extra 5 trader's keys and crafting materials a day. Everything else can be found in other places, just like all the other special pass key places like the lava lounge.

Ah yes, I forgot about the Lava Lounge - is that the only "Deluxe Area" that is not connected to a large city? Can anyone tell me if that pass allows you to automatically return to the place you came from ala Mistlock Sanctuary? That would certainly make up for the lack of association with a large city.

Mistlock is the only pass that allows you to return to your previous location.

Ok, I looked on the Wiki and Lava Lounge, Captain's Airship, and Noble Folly all have an Asura Gate that will take you to any major city for free. So the fact that they are "in the middle of nowhere" doesn't really matter as far as that goes. However, the other special area that IS attached to a major city, the Royal Terrace, does exit directly into the city AFAIK.

So the only thing I'm not clear on is why we have to go a round-about way (through the waterworks & mobs or whatever) to get into the actual city. Just seems strange, especially since there is the path that leads to the city wall but then you have to go around / over it to actually get in.

@Djinn.9245 LoE actually does have free transport to the other cities too. It's not an asura gate but one of the NPCs with an ecto-like symbol above his head (not the gambling one).

From Zalambur's point if view, it all makes sense. If I were him, I'd close the door. I'd rather not have these randoms riding their lizards and rabbits through my office either. Maybe someone can bribe his guard to absent mindedly forget to lock it.

Now that they're working again, LoE has one other benefit: The bounty boards there are map wide, not regional like the others, and contain every available bounty for Crystal Oasis. Great thing to have if you're running a bounty train.

Other than that, it's a poorly laid out hub area with way too much movement required to get where you need to go. Opening that door will only make it marginally more useful. As is, the primary utility of the LoE pass is avoiding the high cost of porting from Tyria to Elona.
