Using Level 80 Boost on a Level 80

I had someone tell me they used their Level-80 Boost on a level 80 but I couldn't get out of them what the point was. All they said was that they got better stuff. Can anyone enlighten me or point me to where I find out how this works?

I don't see the point in using the boost on an 80 char either tbh...

Expect for some gear... which also can be farmed.... dunno...

You just get the items and things that come bundled with the boost including usually Soldiers exotic equipment. I don't think it gives anything special. Wiki has answers on the level 80 boost item

I used the boost that came with PoF on one of my existing level 80's. As other people said you get the exact same items you would get if you used it to level up a character - including the armour and weapons, but unlike when you level up a character they're not equipped automatically, just put into your inventory. (Your traits and skills don't change either.)

I decided to do that because I didn't want another permanent character yet (or a temporary level 80) and it seemed highly unlikely I'd want one any time soon but I did want to free up the shared slot and some of the items in the pack are nice, like the celebratory dye kit. It also unlocked some of the armour skins since I didn't have them already, and I kept the rifle and harpoon gun (I used it on an engineer) because they were better than the ones I already had.

I have used my lvl 80 boost twice on the same lvl 80. I already have all 9 classes to lvl 80 and no plans for more characters. Gotta use them to empty that lovely shared inventory slot.

Maybe they used it to outfit one of their lvl 80s with appropriate gear?

I don't think the stuff you get is any better. Some players just don't need to get any more characters to 80 and want to free up the shared slot.
