can we expect the template system in PvP this year?

I just came to say that the fact that additional equipments won't take room in the inventory anymore is absolutely amazing. Questions I had have already been asked by others people. Thanks for making it! But... Why does it have to wait a whole month?

Can you make it so that we could post a code from our build templates and share it to other people, so they can easily get our build just by pasting the code?

That way much more would use template who usually don't look up builds and bother with proper builds for the specific content they do.

Will the templates be purchasable per character or account similarly how inventory bags and shared invetory slots work?

    Additionally,

Please reconsider lowering the price of both build and especially equipment templates massively or adding more templates in the bundle of whatever price you have in mind.
Most people that do WvW, raid, or do fractals have multiple templates per character they use in those game mode. On top of that people with legendaries have x2 or 3 more than them.
As an example I have over 30 templates spread across 9 characters that are fully geared for raids, and most are for fractals too.
How much would these 30 and more templates cost me in gems? 6,000? 9,000? I'd have to compromise until I could accumulate the gold to convert to gems just to get back the same functionality I have right now with 3rd party templates. As for irl money to gem conversion look further down.
Delta's arcdps templates are currently the most important QoL feature that is available to me, and your implementation at the moment will severely reduce the QoL your templates bring, if your price them wrong.

Currently 2400 gems cost 30€. That's the price of an expansion, an expansion that should have templates included in it as ONE of the many features in the expansion. These templates should not be locked to 2 or 3 per character. It would have to come with option to create dozen and dozen of templates as the player wishes.

You cannot price the templates at more than 30€ in order for us to have something we already have with 3rd party add on. The templates shouldn't cost thousand and thousands of gems or hundred of dollars/euros just so that we can have 10 templates per character.

I'm very disappointed, but not surprised, to see that additional templates will need to be purchased via gemstore. People who play a higher number of build variations and game modes are ironically the ones hit hardest by this decision. I play across PvE, WvW, and PvP. Even if you get a new set of fresh templates per game mode that's an astonishing amount of locking done by this marketing decision.

"For a limited time after release, you’ll be able to pick up a free pack in the Gem Store for a total of six free Build Storage Spaces."

I'm not sure how this is supposed to negate the rest of my observation or alleviate the fact that this sale won't be available for people going forward.

I guess it goes along with something like people running a lot of alts, they have to buy more character slots. This is a utility thing not a necessity, even saying that, they are meeting you halfway by giving access to some slots.

Just as much as any other QoL item is not a "necessity" as the game moves forward and more builds become more numerous - and hopefully they add more content in the game - we will see the average player making good use of this feature. It feels rough that we didn't have to pay for build templates in GW1, and I know people will attack the comparison to the old game, but man.... It doesn't feel good.

Potential requires action in order to be realized.

    From the blog post:

Build Templates can also be copied as a chat link in the game. You can send them to friends to help them prepare for a raid—or to your enemies to boast of your superior build. These chat links can also be copied and pasted out of the game and back into it from your clipboard, making trying a new build from another player or an external website a breeze.

  • My question is:

When new elite specializations arrive, will we get one more template slot for free tied to the purchase made to get that specialization? (let's say expansion) It would make quite good selling point for that expansion on top of the rest.

Don't be that way, yes we are. Necessarily.

  • Equipment Slot -> For a single Character -> ~800 Gems.
Skill Slot for a Single Character -> ~600 Gems.

    Happy Player Looting...

Build Temnplates looks Awesome but 2 and 3 Slots are not enough. 3 Equipment Slots and unlimited Skill/Traits Slots would be better...

  • So you cant attach weapons, armor, runes or sigils to it. I guess it makes it a bit easier but not what i was hoping for. Maybe later they will add that portion. No need to make the legendary runes now.

From what i see, you have 1 build left for your acc to use, or buy gems LOL

I'm not gonna nit-pick just yet, but this is certainly a step in the right direction. :)

This is my signature. It is not very exciting.

  • Part disappointed by the number we're given at the start. My necro already has 3 different build types that I could easily populate the tabs. Limited to 6 in total for that char is rather small. GW1 never had such limitation at all, simply because our builds were written to disk in a file that we can easily back up. Now we don't even have that option any more. Plus, the gear templates is limited 2 per char, and that hits many people hard who have more than 2 completely different build and gear loadouts. In reality, we're not getting 3 build templates but 2 (and a half).

I am not sure where you get that idea. Tomorrow's stream will show details but from the blog:

Equipment Templates can also record the customization of legendary items, which can freely change attributes and upgrades. You can equip a single legendary item to multiple Equipment Templates with different attributes and upgrade choices for each.

You can copy and paste an Equipment Template from one tab to another, rename it, or empty it of all items (including attributes and upgrades). The latter will return any items not used in other templates to your normal inventory.

That certainly sounds like upgrades (ie runes and sigils) are included. Did you only see the build part at the top and not the second section for equipment?

  • so we also get pvp templates on 29th octobre, too?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • PvP equipment works much differently than PvE and WvW equipment, so it will require its own template system. Because this presents different technological challenges, we chose not to delay the release of the completed Build and Equipment Templates. We’re looking forward to hearing what you think of the bulk of the feature, and your detailed feedback will be very helpful to us as we continue developing PvP Equipment Templates.

Jesus, I was excited until I read this!

I’d rather help fund that developer then fund arenanet with their absurd gemstore ways.

Unfortunately, you will have no choice. Arcdps build templates won't work after Anet's templates are implemented.

The community has to fight for the developer to stay. This is just bad tbh. And I hope he changes his mind.

I like to know when you can swap, how often, and what dose it do to you cd.

See ELE forms and you will get my views.

Do we have to buy equipment templates to quickly switch too, or can i load up some link and use the equipment from my bags?

Could you increase the default Equipment Template tabs to at least 3 or 4?
Only 2 are way to low, i know you can buy more, but whats the point of expensive legendaries, if you can only make use of 2 different configurations, without paying up big time to get at least the minimum you need for frequent raid/fractal runs?

I'm going to wait and see how it works before knocking it.
At first glance it will give me a chance to swap between the two specializations per character. Or PvE or WvW and Raid stats quite easily.

Swapping stat-related items is a huge bonus. I spend too much time searching and swapping armor and trinkets across characters when changing play modes.

If equipment is on another character does it automatically transfer if both have it in their equipment template?
Do the tabs contain a single build, either stats or equipment? Or a complete character build?
If we are trying someone else's build and we don't have the stat-related equipment, what's the default? An open slot? Our last equipped item?
