Headless Helm? and capes

I was just thinking is it possible to have a headless helm as an upcoming Halloween item? I dont know if its impossible to code or if it is simple. I just think it would be fun to have a headless norn or charr running around.
Also a topic that has been discussed many times, could we get capes, I honestly think the technology is there. We can see it in many of the back items already.

  • Headless yes, but only if we get a horse skin for one of the mounts because reasons...

I would pay for a "headless" armor skin.
It would just make the helmet slot appear invisible.
It would be for all of my empty-headed characters!

Just click to hide the head armor? Or are you looking for one that hides the entire head too?

If it's the latter, could be fun at Halloween....
    But anyway, no, thanks.

I could only see them doing that as an outfit then. That’s also assuming that it’s actually possible to hide part of the player model without breaking things. It may work if made as a combat tonic or some transform tonic since I believe those use a different model.

There's outfits that reshape the legs, and make parts of the torso and arms missing. I think it would be possible for an outfit to make the head disappear, too.

I mean, the head would still be there, and likely show up if you turn the head part of the outfit off, but it would just not display anything. Well, nothing save for some kind of cover for the neck hole. And it would look REALLY odd on charr.

Lip synching is just mime karaoke.

  • I imagine the "neck hole" would just be a black void. Might be too gruesome for most people's taste otherwise. The combat tonic idea is good except we wouldn't be able to be on a mount headless which would be a disappointment for me. This would be a great helmet skin for halloween this year. I hope it happens but not holding my breath.

I rather this be a combat Tonic.

And its totally possible as we seen with the Pirate leg which can totally replace the leg of the character with a stick.

Well not headless but still pretty good if it's a helm.

Plus some versions of the headless horseman have had a pumpkin as a head instead of no head

Point being that this has already been discussed so if one were to use the search function and read the old threads they would have the answer and not need to necro anything.

I like the idea of a headless helmet skin (one which completely hides your characters head). Probably not something I'd use all the time, but it would be a fun option to have, especially for Halloween.

It really doesn't look like you read it to me.

They made a valid point why they do believe the tech is there. (I'm inclined to agree that there is now)

Which means they did not find the answer they were looking for.

Which means it's okay for them to post about it.

But, no. Again, it has been said in previous threads that the tech is not there. Even if they believed that it was, reading previous threads would show that it is not. But whatever. I'm not going to continue to argue with you as doing so is getting neither of us anywhere.

WAS not. Just as they once said the tech for sitting in chairs was not there. We've seen some interesting back items since then, including one that at least comes close to being a cape. It's not unreasonable to keep the request on their radar. They may at some point solve the problems, even if it's for something unrelated.

Yeah, but we have seen with banners and some gemstone backpacks that the tech is there.

Some of the gem store outfits with streamers.

    Also with the racing scarf.

The tech for the physics are there, is it a problem with getting guild emblem on it?

Doubt it because cavalier weapons have guild versions with streamers on them holding guild logos.

I just dont see the need to tell everyone to use the search feature when it doesn't really work that well, and assuming the person is satisfied but just spam posting.

    Well, there's this comment: https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/comment/532417/#Comment_532417

    @MatthewMedina.5419 said:
Capes work in Guild Wars 1 because we only had human characters and our armor "footprints" were pretty standardized. As such, their absence in GW2 was an unfortunate casualty of moving to a MUCH more complicated composite system, and our increasing character art standards. Capes are tricky even when you have finite sets of armor to work off of, but when you go and build a system designed to be highly expandable, making sure capes work with all those possibilities without clipping across the ten different race/gender combinations, well it just became a WAY bigger deal.

    And...

    @Ben Phongluangtham.1065 replied:
Capes are problematic. They are difficult to animate well. Especially when it comes to tails. I know we had them in GW1, but animations there were much less complicated, including not having the ability to jump.

Literally took less than 2 minutes to find these answers by searching "capes"

  • If clipping issues were grounds for not having things, charrs would have been excised from the game 2 weeks after release

I'm for a headless outfit. They'd need to do something to the neck portion, make it bloody or raggedy, perhaps.

How about the opposite -- a non-combat tonic that makes your body disappear, so you look like a floating head? Then there could be headless bodies standing around with floating heads, or a whole train of heads floating by.

  • Guild Wars had a headless outfit. It was a version of the Lunatic Court Finery, so it should be doable in this game.
