Hopefully I'll experience my first Halloween in GW2 this year.
Planned in doing so last year but... change of plans last minute.

Anything dead related is always awesome! (Minus certain times with the Risen in Orr...)

Thank you for the update on when the event will run. This is a rather fun festival and look forward to it. Now to hurry and wait.

I love how it gets 3 weeks. Can't wait!

What sleep is here? What dreams there are in the unctuous coiling of the snakes mortal shuffling. weapon in my hand. My hand the arcing deathblow at the end of all things. The horror. The horror. I embrace it. . .

I will send you my doubles from last year(s)
Mail me in game so I have you.

  • Looking forward to it once more. Got to love GW2's annual festivals.

  • Ayumi -- you must come, if at all possible. It's positively my favorite time of the year in Tyria! The decorations are wonderful, the drops are tasty, and the whole experience is outstanding. (Labyrinth for the win!)

  • 4th year running with no story (or joke) additions. Don't get me wrong, I love GW2 Halloween--which is why every year my favorite festival breaks my heart.

  • Hooray! This was the first big event after the game launched and I loved it. Can't wait to see the Mad King again!

Why are we all avoiding the real subject here?

King Thorn is quite literally THE LEGITIMATE ruler of all Kryta and since the fall of Ascalon and Orr, all of Humanity.

  • Odd, I saw nothing on the News Blog. Unusual to see it announced on the forums first. But, thanks for the information. =)

I'm looking forward to Halloween, because it always used to be one of my favourite Guild Wars holidays.

But I'm also worried that it's going to include another absurdly expensive mini pet (like Gwynefyrdd and Oxidecimus) which means for me it will come down to farming the Labyrinth as much as possible and then raiding my material storage for gold to make the remainder, none of which is fun. I'm well aware it's my choice to do this, and I do love those minis, I think I'd want them even if I didn't collect mini pets, but it would be really nice if I didn't have to choose between getting the item I want or enjoying the festival.

You got back up, rise up, shine on, keep on fighting, the war is almost done...But then I hear you're gone.
I feel, when the lights go down, you are still here, all you hold dear remains.
    Your star never fades."

If the recent trend holds true, the prior year minis will drop significantly in price while new minis will be added for the high price.

You shouldn't do something you don't enjoy - its a game.

That said: good luck with your drops :)

  • Quite right, Omar. Did he pay you to say that? I accepted a hefty fee for agreeing. In ToT bags, of course. ;)

Kind of wish there was something I had that I could make into a "costume" in the game for Halloween.

It may not be what you had in mind, but there are 'costumes' (Outfits with a Halloween theme) offered in the Gem Store. If not available now, I'm sure they will be shortly.

    Good luck.

  • Will cat ears be returning? I really hope so..

I've been thinking that. Some people have done some brilliant in-game cosplay, but it can take a lot of planning, depending on the skins you need.

When the cat ears were released I dressed my GW2 main up as my character from an old RP forum (who was a human/elf/cat/bat hybrid, exactly as weird as it sounds) but I think only I appreciated that one. I just loved that (aside from the tail) I could copy such a weird character design inside a game.

You figuratively just sucked the fun out of what he was saying.

    "I wanna make a costume"
"No. Go to the store and buy one"

I saw some norn dressed as spiderman yesterday. Also there is the golden monopoly warrior with dual moots and gooold.

I have seen the zelda guy. And sailor moon(if anyone here is old enough to know)

I even saw the cat guy from the ladybug show.

  • It was just a suggestion; not everyone knows about Halloween/Wintersday Outfits. If offering information is 'fun-sucking', sobeit.

Yeah I didn't mean Halloween themed stuff. I meant like try and dress as certain looks like yeah not exactly Spiderman or such, but best example.

  • I'm sure you could find some inspiration from the old 'Mix and Match Armor' thread(s) on the old forums. You might consider taking a peek before they are removed permanently in 3 weeks.

    Good luck.

  • I wish we could have some new Halloween activities like some new storyline or a new minigame. While I totally understand why we don't have such, I still wish the annual festivals would be better updated. I have always enjoyed seasonal activities in MMORGPs so it is a pity the content is always recycled.

Will there be anything new or returning (and i don't ask about gemstore, or impossible droprate mini), or just a rehash of last year's already diminished version?

The whole point of a social game is to play with the people you want to play with, not be forced to play with the people you don't.

  • I'd rather you didn't, but thanks, anyway.

  • Will there be new content to play?

  • new content or copy-pasta ?

  • i wonder if it's gonna be another copypaste from previous years or we're actually gonna get some content.

  • These seasonal events have been lacking since launch.

There isnt much fun thing to do at all.
You do a seasonal jumping puzzle, killed a few seasonal mobs, and then you're already bored.

Remember when WoW released The Lich King, players could be infected and become zombies and then go off an attack players and infect them.
You'd have a zombie army try to take over a city.
Imagine that in GW2, where it spreads out from Orr and special events for each side to do, and if the dead win, that part of the map changes to a darker scarier landscape.
You have this for all the maps with outbreaks happening all over.
Wouldnt it be fun to defend against a risen player zerg, or die and then join the risen infected ranks?

But no, it's the lab for us again, as usual, just like last year, the year before that, and the year before that, and......

You do realize the zombie plaque from WoTLk was hated by a lot of the player base. I was there for all of it, and it was not well received at all.
