An idea how to truly bring e-specs in line with core

core warrior is a good example how they can do it, not sure if core war bacame obsolete after the patch, but the the discipline would only sinergise well with other 2 core traitlines or add significant bonuses for running 3 core traitlines or sgo for trinity stuff this trait is more defensive/dps/healer which I think is the approach they took for some classes but for most of them the elites just came out tuned up in the 3 areas

The real "solution" is giving us an extra slot for traitlines, nerfing stuff to our current power level. Make the last traitline slot only usable by elite specs and make sure to have more than 2/class. Getting to pick 3/5 core lines would imo give more customization as most classes have 1 almost completely mandatory traitline.

Conceptually elite specs should imo be a way to further specialize your char, they're just flawed because there's so few (so some classes don't even get one that doesn't replace their core mechanic like necro/guard/war). While being problematic on that they're kinda being balanced against normal traitlines, which becomes strange given that they give extra skills, weapons and change mechanics.

the real solution is making core traitlines playable, dont know about all the classes but mesmer has some traitlines that are utter garbage.Dueling is a must haveDomi is good but power onlyChaos is good but better on condiMirage is good for condi and power.So there are only 4 good traitlines, 2 of which dont go on the same build and here you go mirage for everything.

Thief has it right, core traitlines are good, and impactfull.And you actually WANT them, acro is good trickery is amazing deadly arts is preety much must have, DD is amazing too.so you have 4 good lines to chooser from.

Sounds like an unnecessarily restrictive way of going about it. Save Engi and Ele, core classes are at a pretty good spot. Some core stuff could use some polishing on all classes, but the strongest potential core builds out there are at a healthy enough power level IMO. They just need to work a little more on bringing down the power on some more of the e-specs and polishing some underused traits/skills, and the discrepancy between core and e-spec should be fine. No need to hamstring certain e-spec builds by restricting them from taking a traitline that is cornerstone to their success.

Why would you use war for example of change, when already both elite for war are trash bags now and only core war matters

War is literally the example of failed elite design and how to trash your elites101

When 3 of your specs play the same role in the pvp, only one can be on top.

There isn't enough flexibility within a single spec to give elite specs the space to trade off like they need to in order to be enjoyable and balanced. The core trait line which becomes an elite would need buffs or rework in some cases.
