Archive patch has caused issues in game

After Wintersday download, I was logging on and it came up with GW2 logo and started doing some archive patch. After few minutes game loaded as normal, but since then, when I go into a WvW map, its whiteout screen and slowly the terrain starts loading, but lag is insane and makes the game unplayable. The lag since the Wintersday patch is extremely bad, and although my ping is usually high, it jumps from 400 to 1000 during normal play. I have reset routers, PC and taken steps to ensure its not my Service Provider, including speed tests which indicate pings of 31 milisecs. Any help appreciated

Speed tests won't tell you anything about the path that your client takes to the ArenaNet servers.If you ever want to find out about connection issues, use a program like PingPlotter and the map in question's IP address.Keep in mind that you can't ping AWS servers.
