By saying this you changed the future so now it'll never be buffed.

But because you commented on the future did you just undo that?

Meanwhile you ask for server balance and sieges rework: dead silence. Sooo...yeah

So... to me it’s the beginning of balancing WvW differently than PvE. It may allow PvE raiders to be happy with their huge numbers, but limit the meme builds in WvW and reduce the 1 shot capabilities.

And I believe beginnings as that will likely take a lot more time to pull off.

It also tells me there are other things being accomplished when I hear ‘just the splits are...’

But, reality is, until we see changes, it’s just speculation.

I agree it's never favorable that an ability took a hit because it was outperforming elsewhere and not in the game mode. It's also further supported via build templates to some degree so I can see that as well.

To me they are walking on the wrong path.I mean GW2 was a Great Game because of its accessibilitiy and simplicity.

    • Levelling: so easy and enjoiable with no "oldschool" quest hub, world events with partecipation...
    • Gearing: remember when the max quality was Exotic(u could use Karma to buy items and that gear was good across all modes),meaning everyone was on equal terms (stats speaking) and u didnt have to farm specific currency in a specific map or having Ascended crafting with all that time gating and rs farm?
    • Spvp: just get to the required level and have pvp
    • WvW: same thing.

Gw2 was Great for these reasons: just log in,get what u need in a reasonable ammount of time (faster than any mmorpg out there) and PLAY.
    Nowdays its totally different.

The maximum example was how to unlock new professions (coming with any new expansion):

    • PvE: if you like PvE,u are playing PvE and so u unlock those while doing what you like,PvE
    • SPvP: You only enjoy log in and have structured pvp matches: there you go instant unlock
    • WvW: You mostly do WvW yea yuck fou go play PvE .... until they sort of fixed this and people karma train for a week to unlock things to get more currency, but its wvw specific while i have billions of Karma i could use it to unlock things, but no,here: MOAR currency to make it tedious.

I actually find this funny. In one hand you have WoW trying to semplify the game as much as possible for accessibility from what it was,in the other you have Gw2 complicating things from what is was,for no reasons.

i dont know: 2019 was the first year i uninstalled this game.I still hope,a little, they fix WvW but yea im so ready to go.

You can most definetly unlock an entire profession in WvW using proof of heroics. Since there weren't that many new professions lately people have got this currency stacked in the thousands (1 poh = 1 hero point). And this unlock counts for PvE too.

It's BS (bravado speak) until I see it in game.

In the beginning...there was Tarnished Coast...

  • Yes i understand @AdaLollA.8463 . But the point is they added that feature after player requested a way for WvWers
    to unlock things.
While in the other portion of the game the unlocks were structured in a way that made sense for that "mode",in WvW people had to ask because there was none.

I just can’t imagine they would use the word ‘splits’ and mean something else. It just makes sense. Why bork one game mode’s builds just to make a different one angry.. All the time...

  • we're just again at that point... battles are not the biggest problem of WvW as a format, by far not. they should rather work on rewards for team performance and matchup-solutions as well as some optically nice looking stuff (map design, new map(s), eotm workover) and the still brutally glitchy maps (u can get stuck on way too many wallsides for example..)

i mean people still play wvw without really any positive content for very long; the battles did barely change, why now forcing people to adapt to completely new battles if it was good enough to keep them playing for several years?

there is not "one type" of Wvw-player anyways, it's pretty split between people that like fighting over objectives and people that are only there for the fights (those would be fine if you'd give them nothing more than an empty, white-grey and even map tho, so yeah..)

I'm personally of the opinion that zerg fights are extremely shallow in GW2. Sure there are some tactics involved in it with position and such, but otherwise...eh...really not that deep, and very much rewards having a bunch of mindlessly spamming randoms amidst the group so long as they just drop all the damage where its called and hug tag. Large scale fights in BDO have more depth, even if not by much, but still more so than GW2. I think people just like that its more accessible to get into on GW2 than it is on other games like BDO, ESO and Archeage and that it gets super flashy and you get to see the two blobs clash with all the flashy effects and people feeling like they are contributing as part of a group. I won't say people's fun is wrong, but you know at least recognize what it is.

Also I really don't think a blank map with nothing on it would be all that appealing to people who "just want the fights" as positioning (on terrain) and using your environment can be big factors in winning fights on the larger scale and what can make those fights all the more fun for people.

I'm fascinated to see what the changes are.
But 800-900 items... kinda an admission of neglect. Guess they really have just been kitten about all this time.
Also funny that, since templates are so disgustingly monetised, they now have a real incentive to split everything.
It's gonna be hilarious. I'm stocking up on popcorn 🍿

If you remember, they said they were iffy on doing splits in the past except in small cases. Because they wanted people that came to competitive modes from pve to have their skills act alike. But heavy handed competitive nerfs have split over into pve because of that and badly hurt many classes.

So I see this with 800-900 splits that they are finally giving up on that fallacy.

If they actually manage to somehow balance out classes and make everything have viable builds for roaming, small scale and blobs, I might actually download the game again and play. We'll see in March it seems... Hoping for decent stuff, expecting a cluster f.

That's like when we get scout reports that vastly underestimate enemy player numbers. 10+ turns out to be 60.

You mean the POF ones? Hmm... I was speculating with my server that there's a tiny possibility of new Elites. 900 seems like a LOT. Let's remember that MO's mantra was "surprise and delight". Ye ... we all know what we think of that, BUT it would be in keeping to drop Elites on us out of nowhere, and what better time than a complete rework? Then we won't know how they would have stacked up in the old meta.

This is my fear, too. I think they're doing the right thing and it'll be healthy for the game in the long run to nerf the crazy one-shotting. But to make it so players have to be GOOD in order to kill enemies rather than just run crazy one-shot builds will mean some, less skilled, people (probably me) can NEVER get revenge anymore - and that will probably drive them away.
