Craft is a joke? — Guild Wars 2 Forums

Craft is a joke?

Why is it so expensive?
I'm just a casual player so I feel exotic items is enough for me. I started to play a few months ago. But what if I want to try condi(or other attribute except power and those which are on trading post) builds for my 3 character.
I found there is no way to get stat-selectable weapons (except some from elite specialisation achiev and some viper box)?
I mean I need to lvl my craft for armor (one char is heavy, one light) it's 2 and you know some balance patches and other stuff so I need to lvl like 3 or more proff for some weapons???
How many is it for gold?
150+ gold just for lvl craft to be able to craft a few weapons TO JUST TEST OTHER THEN POWER ATTRIBUTE BUILDS ??????????

If yu want stat selectable Exotics, WvW and PvP Triumphant Armor track rewards them.

    1 Piece per track.

    Same for weapons.

Alternatively, jump into PvP and try it out with their Amulets, but it will feel weaker cos PvP balances.

If I play a stupid build, I deserve to die.
If I beat people on a stupid build, I deserve to get away with it.

There are tons of stat select-able items thrown at you in the game.

    Bladed Armor for example:
    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bladed_armor

Here is a thread from mid of last year on the issue of stat select-able gear:
    https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/78586/best-way-to-get-stat-selectable-exotic-gear-armor-and-weapons

If it's about only trying a build out, you can use easy available condition damage exotic items off the trading post and work with budget builds. There are tons of guides on budget builds for each class on YouTube and alternative gear recommendations on metabattle builds.

I don't see weapons in that tracks, am I missing something?

Airship farming is nightmare for me idk why I'm getting not enough of it, but ok for armor. Now I see tracks and Hot Map, but what about weapons?

    For everything else, look here:

As mentioned, alterations might have to be made to builds (in form of taking other stat combinations like Sinister, Carrior, Rabid, etc.) IF the stat combinations is not available as direct purchase AND the item is not ascended AND you lack access to the appropriate crafting profession.

I'm unsure what you expect. This is a MMORPG, not a single player game.

As mentioned by Yasai.3549, the pvp area allows for easy build practice free of charge to see if a build is to ones liking.

I played a few mmo like this (not p2w) and there was an more easier option to get minimum armor, and here as I can see armor like marauder must be grinded like best armor in other game, and we have ascended, but ok maybe I just had a bad day.
Anyway when I searched some information I saw that people said for example Rabid is like doing 50% less then Viper. I will need to find that topic again, but I 100% saw this calculations in this forum topic.

Trinkets and weapon give you the biggest stat boost. Armor is the weakest.

Ok. For "budget" Power builds go with Berserker. Just buy it on TP. Filter by Exotic, stats: Power, Precision, Ferocity. Sort by price.
For condi go with Carion (Power, Vitality, Condi damage).

    Note:

    • dont filter by name (berserker). Filter by stats. This is because there are named items that sell for less then crafted ones.
    • crafting is in general very expensive. Costs alot to level. Mats are also not cheap.
    • and to make thing worse, nice stat combos from expansions are "bound to account". So noone can sell you that.
    • crafting is more for Ascended weapon or armor. And for Legendary.

Step 2: upgrade to Ascended. This includes "rare" stat combos.
First go with Trinkest (amulet, rings, ...). You do it with Living Seasons maps.
Use this as a guild: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Tanetris/So_You_Want_To_Gear_a_Character

So just skip "rare stat" exotic and go for Ascendeded. Its cheaper that way.

As I said it's ridiculous how not many ways to get some stat selectable weapons. Like Hero weapon track is wvw, but kitten so no good way to get it in pve? Very, very bad.
As for ascended I rly feel it is too expensive for me. I mean weapons.
I rly don't understand why PvE don't have alternative for WvW hero track.

Upd. I know most of that. I just wanted to find more less "normal" way to get stat selectable weapons (this is the main prob) and armor (not so critical) without craft.

  • Every time when I think that's it it kills me again. To buy ascended weapon from wvw or spvp merchant I need to grind but I need Grandmaster Mark different types and I can craft it(!!! you buy weapon from grind merchant and again need craft) or grind it more to get 3(!!!!!) for whole track spvp or get even less from wvw?????????????????
This is total disrespect for the player.

No it's not a total disrespect for the player. Put in the effort like everybody else. A lot of replies here have given you valid advises and tips to get exotics that don't require crafting. You said you're just playing casually so why are you rushing? Level up your crafting slowly if you don't want to follow the advises and tips given. You will eventually get there.

In my opinion, the simplest and cheapest solution for crafting exotic level gear with selectable characteristics is crafting this thing: lunatic gossamer insignia. Well, all related recipes can be bought from merchants during the Halloween event. The main thing is to spend the resources gained during the events on the purchase of crafting recipes in the first place, they will be useful to you for the future
