With Alliances reducing the number servers overall in WvW how about making EoTM into an Alt EBG

I imagine they are just rebranding servers to alliances and the way one can apply to that alliance wich has X builds registered on its.

Players not in that alliance guilds will be on the randoms pool.

‘Servers’ will be called ‘Worlds’. Each world will consist of likely two (maybe more) alliances, non allied guilds and non affiliated individual players to make up the total population.

I tend to think of ‘Worlds’ like a wall. The alliances are like large bricks, with non affiliated guilds being the smaller bricks and the individual players not in an alliance or WvW guild being the mortar.

@Strider Pj.2193 said:@Knighthonor.4061 So tell me again why you don’t play EoTM?

@Sovereign.1093 And tell me what your thoughts are as to how population status is figured?

who says i dont? i play it with 2 or 3 ppl.

no of play hours per toon, the more you play, the more blocks you occupy, which i hope they put a limit.

It’s play hours... period. If you are playing 300 hours, good for you. That would allow 300 players to play one hour.

There is no clogging. Please stop spreading misinformation.

For further clarification this is a link to the forum archives where @"McKenna Berdrow.2759" posted the specifics.

and yet there's a lot of full servers :/ need to stop these clogging of servers and reset the wvw tiers. anet can do it and call it seasons. sure servers would stack again but that's how it is. i'd rather see players stack and play and fight than - be outnumbered all the the time.

also, is it me or the forum when you post a link - sends you to a page not found? i had to copy what you posted and paste instead of this clicking thing.

what you linked is similar to what i posted, whats the misinformation?

‘Full’ servers are a level that triggers the server to close. It has nothing to do queues or numbers of players.

It has everything to do with total play hours.

For example: BG, considered to be the most ‘full’ server in NA, never mind it’s link. Rarely is there a queue outside of reset. But, because of play hours, across all time zones it remains full (and should)

That isn’t ‘clogging’, it’s trying to keep things competitive.

The link system has some redeeming qualities, but like most things, players found a way to game it.

As it is written, (though I have no doubt it can be games) alliances offers some hope for more balanced matchups. But no system will be perfect.

And as far as the links in posts? I think for the most part it’s how your computer/device handles links. I’ve never had a problem clicking on links both on my phone, or my computer.

we'll see if alliance delivers when its out. until then, its a shrodingers cat scenario.

mmm... page error it shows for me. :/

and as i read the link, it really does not refute but supports what i earlier said.

no. of hours played acts as your block. some players has a value of probably 2 to 5 versus others with less. but i do a player who plays 6 to 8 hours will not be an equivalent to more than 3 to 5 players. :/

makes sense now why many make alts so they can stack it somewhere and that blob place with all novice titles can be equivalent of the best players without wvw skills used.

@Jayden Reese.9542 said:What do you think will happen when you give players even more control? That 1st alliance will be so effin stacked with guilds and have perfect timezone coverage. The next couple will be decent then any other alliance after that will just be kitten. Yeah looking forward to that mess and that mess is probably years away.

After 2 weeks in EU T1 one can see that even high populations can mean absolutely nothing. Lots of ppl are just exhausted after 6 years and now are simply not interested in playing the game anymore. Instead they create their own game modes, and then rage because other ppl don't play the „right“ way. Its like „playing“ football and saying: „I'm tired of running, scoring and winning.“

Lots of ppl are simply not interested in playing the game and playing together. And I don't mean the usual „PPK-com wants meta-only, PPT-casuals unable or unwilling to deliver“. Even the dedicated fight elite doesn't want to play together. 2-3 fight guilds on the map (+roamers, +spawn-afk'lers) doesn't even leave enough space for an additional zerg. Even when there are no enemy fight guilds on the map for GvG, they still don't group up to defend the lord room vs. the enemy zerg. Instead:

  • guild 1 pushes in and instantly dies
  • guild 2 just standing beside and watching the massacre (and then suiciding as well)
  • guild 3 takes a break afk at spawn

(there are exceptions ofc)

The other day a server is dead for hours. Then a full zone pops up and just karma snipes every map. After that server dead again for hours.

Long story short: I totally agree with you. At the beginning there will be some elite alliances, and maybe even a bit of competition. But after a couple of months the usual stuff will most likely kick in again:

  • Alliance A doesn't want to play with Alliance B
  • guild 1 from Alliance A doesn't want to play with guild 2 from Alliance A anymore
  • Alliance C loses on purpose to get „high quailty fights“ one tier down
  • Alliance D disbands because they couldn't find a consensus if the next community meeting will be at 6 or 7 pm :#

Imo Alliances won't make it easier to find ppl with the same attitude and game goals to play with, its gonna be the straight opposite, more separating than with the current big servers.
