Revenant gets new Weapon in LW5, what weapon would you want and what kind of skills you want on it?

I'm surprised that there wasn't already a flood of GS.All in all, I think a 900 range main hand weapon would be my pick. I'd choose Axe main hand with skills designed close to what necromancer's main hand axe does.AA: slash at your foe tearing a rift through space and hiting your enemy.Skill#2: cleave in front of you, tearing space and hiting up to 5 foes in a cone (range 600).Skill#3: Make 3 quick wide slashs, sending projectiles made out of mist energy (range 1200. 100% projectile finisher)

I want GS but I rather something gets fleshed out for GS with Elite Spec.

Another off hand weapon would be nice, but also want a ranged support weapon. So Land Trident would be cool for me or off hand ranged dagger.

For dagger I want channeled soul drain like ability from Warlocks in WoW classic.

But if Trident I want really good AoE healing and defensive group support on a balanced energy cost that can be traited for salvation. Would like lots of ground target abilities here and a large channel heal. And upkeep on a weapon seem unique as well.

I would prefer gs in elite, for a non elite traitline a weapon I think we need a offhand weapon like a focus or anything arround that.

This because if we receive the other offhands in elite specs we end only using them in that elite spec and at least one more offhand weapon needs to be in core ;/

Personally I want offhand focus. Binding of Ipos, hello?

Give a block to one of the skills. This immediately lessens the monopoly that staff has on condi builds. Take Abyssal Chill and sword/focus could be a viable secondary set for condi/hybrid builds.

Personally I would like a boon-RIP utility skill for the other skill. Kinda like Necro focus 5 but less damage and more utility. Have it grant a boon and give it an interaction with Spirit Boon.

From the nature of the question, we really should be asking 'what is core revenant missing' rather than 'what has the fanciest graphics'.

With this being the case: Ranged condition damage weapon all the way. The reasons being:

1) Now that revenant has weaponswap, and given that condi core is SUPPOSED to be viable, there really needs to be a suitable weaponswap available for core condi revenants (and elite specs that don't bring a condition weapon) to use. Presently, such builds are typically forced into staff or sword for defence or trait synergies.

2) Revenant only having one core ranged weapon makes it very sensitive to the balance of that weapon. Other professions having multiple ranged weapons means that if one gets nerfed too hard, they can fall back on the other.

Without such a core weapon, any elite specialisation which is intended to offer any damaging condition power is pretty much obliged to fill that shortfall in the core profession. It's probably a large part of why Kalla got a shortbow instead of a greatsword.

I'd probably see it as being linked to Invocation, employing 'pure' Mists manipulation over channeling a specific legend. Scepter, possibly coupled with a new offhand, might therefore be a good option.

@Scoobaniec.9561 said:Whats the point of scepter when you do not have offhand weapon to pair it with?Revenant used to be warrior so i think rifle would be perfect fit for core ranged condi weapon. It would also be unique compared to other rifles which are power based

Which is why ppl usually say scepter+focus for their next set. Spellbreaker shows its not impossible to get two weapons.

We are talking about base here

just add scepter +Focus to core, and then make a greatsword elite spec so that way everyone wins. This would also mean the Elite spec could be something unique in of itself and not have to cover up short comings of the core class.

Been saying it for years: Scepter + Focus. 900 Range Power Damage AoE spec with defensive utility so it doesn't suck in competitive modes. Or Hybrid so it can work with Condi too

Legend: Vizier Khilbron, Master Togo, or Razah

(Also if we end up with GS I'd want Svanir or Varesh Ossa)

Edit: Just noticed this was for Core, not for elite. I don't think we need any other core weapons honestly. If anything it was a Ranged Condi weapon, but that ship has sailed.

"Which weapon would you like to see for third elite ?"

vs whats in the OP

"hypothetically speaking lets say LW5 gives the Revenant a new weapon (Not Elite Spec), what weapon would you want this to be, and what kind of skills do you want on this new weapon?"

It's the same question with an irrelevant twist. If you had made it a poll you would have seen the same ratios and many of the same reasons.

Hypothetically speaking, coupling a ranged mainhand with offhand axe or sword could work. The teleports would probably be less useful if coupled with a ranged weapon, but Shackling Wave and Temporal Rift can serve as the close-range crowd control you often have on ranged sets. It'd be similar to guardian offhands, which are usually more suited for melee than ranged, but are still of some use when paired with a scepter for ranged combat.

Theoretically speaking, it could also match with herald shield and any other future offhands that are produced.

It's actually a very important twist - it makes it about picking out something that core is currently missing which it needs, rather than just something that would be fun to have. It also means that it's just about a weapon to fill a gap in core, rather than something that might have a legend and playstyle built around it. Which is why most people are choosing something that isn't greatsword.
