What I don't understand is why there are 5 types of seeds when we only have 4 spots per garden plot to plant them. That's a total of 12, which still can't be divided by 5. :s They should enhance the garden plots to five spots per.

rare. Any advice? I know I could just buy one but I'd rather get it myself. It's random. A friend of mine got his on the very first mob he killed, while I had to kill several dozend (and got a good many pieces of red meat in the process) before I got one, then got two more back to back.

Just make sure you've gotten to the appropriate step of the Charr collection, as it won't drop before you've witnessed the charr cut up the cow. You can't finish the asura collection unless you do the charr one first or get the meat from the trading post.

That is it! I was doing the Asura first. I would have kept farming those for days, ty for the help. Wish ANet made that clearer, there is no way in game to know this.

If the seed pouches work like the normal ones for the garden plots, the smart thing to do would be to use just one and plant ALL the slots with that one bag. That'll get you the most return out of each one. (Also, Glyph of Bounty works on the garden spots normally, so I'm guessing it'll work on these too.)

I'm disappointed that the kitchen doesn't appear for everyone in my account. Half the reason I unlocked it all was for the decorative value of it. Set it up so that you can still do the quest line if you want to when you reach 425, but leave us the visuals for everyone. Please.

that told me to learn the charr stuff first. If in doubt on collection stuff, tooltips are often a good source of hints.

That's really the only complaint I have. Not long ago, I paid for and / or crafted food that was an hour length and now it's 30 min food which presents loss of gold from both the seller and buyers and end users prospective, and in some cases it was probably quite a drastic loss.

Other than that, good job.

Perhaps to encourage you to buy the other 2 gardenplots for a total of 12. So you could get each seed twice and something else on the last 2 spots. But I think having to recraft the seed pouches daily completely pushes ascended food out of reach of non raiders.

Craft and salvage 25 foodstuffs of various levels per seed. Craft a seed pouch. Plant the seeds and wait for reset. And every day you don't plant varietal seeds you need to plant something else to gain benefit from your garden. It's just too cumbersome to bother with. I don't mind a cost in resources, but the legwork involved is just too much. Of course it can be alleviated by buying ingredients on the TP, but that doesn't excuse the unattractive busywork mechanics.

I noticed yesterday when trying a bit ... that on my other char also the achievements seemed to display differently. On my human main I did first 3 cookings to unlock the next step (heat stones). On another char that step was locked and I think the first showed as not done.

I wonder how this is intened. I guess it will be unlocking account wide - for unlocking stuff in home instance. And nice to be able to track it that way throught the achievement window. (Belcher' Bluff also unlocks skills per account.) Then again for achievement points (I think it gives some AP) it could be confusing since I bet they are only once per account.

Edit: The first 3 recipes seem to be completed in achievement window while on anotehr char. But the fourth step is not unlocked there. Other than that I can't give more info about this since I haven't done fourth steps yet and only for 2 races the first 3 steps (3 recipes).

I have two chefs. The other chef cant see the basic cooking furnace until 425 cooking, and the bloodstone at 500The second chef gets allowed to complete the whole collection again. Which is completely unneded. completed the whole thing on the first chef which is my main.

I'm pretty happy with the quest, I dunno if I'll bother crafting ascended food (don't really need it) but I enjoyed the process a lot more than leveling the other crafts from 400-500.

I hadn't noticed that they'd nerfed the duration of certain foods. Nerfing existing food to make the new food more appealing seems... dodgy to me. I don't like that.

They don't work that way; they have one use and apparently only provide one harvest. Which is kinda a pity, really, but at least you can craft more seeds in your home instance now.

I'm a bit disappointed too but it makes sense. Sure you see account unlocks in all your characters instances (like nodes and so on) but for character specific unlocks (like M.O.X or Ridhais) you only see that characters unlocks in their own instance.

So can you do this twice on two different characters? I'm curious as this seems to be tracked by a colleciton and collections haven't been character specific. Or is the collection only to track eligibility for the achievement?

Only having the kitchen visible to the chef might entice a lot of those people who want access to everything into buying an additional profession slot so all their toons can see the kitchen.

If that's the case, then I can't help but admire the clever marketing ploy.

I see at charr quests there is promised a 10 increase in cooking rank at the end. Wiki lists it for one other (I think sylvari) as well. Anyone knows about the other races? I guess it could be possible to time turning in these to bridge the gap towards 500 (and before that trying to cook to gain rank)? (To get the most out of it. Then again when you actually have to discover stuff and want to discover for completion ... wouldn't make a big difference since you get discovery experience on the rank as well.

For the meat it dropped quality meat but for poultry just an unlock (while it only dropped normal poultry not yellow rarity). I guess this is not a bug. (Didn't find any yellow rarity and it has the same name.)

You get 10 skill per collection line for a total of 50 skill.

Honestly, really disappointed. There was no practical reason to lower duration of 1 hour food, better idea was to give ascended foods 2 hour duration, hence the quality of it. And increase duration of homegrown primers.

Only thing good for me: 3rd Garden Bed is filled now, for free. I even spared about 300-400 gold ( 1k gems is the cost of garden deed ).More garden slots i can use with much determination, but not for ascended food stuff.

I haven't figured out the new advanced cooking and have no idea who to turn to for answers.

I have Cooking 450 on a human and Asura for race-specific recipes, but other than running through ingredients, gaining some experience, and losing inventory slots I have yet to actually see where the advance comes in.

what recipes are race specific?

I was being semi-sarcastic but mostly serious.Don't you think differing races would excel at different forms of cooking? Ascended recipes could be that gateway.Would Norn cook the same way as Sylvari? Or Asura like the same things as the Charr? I don't think so.The answer is to bring out their race-specific dishes.

Something just occurred to me. This thing with varietal seeds and cultivated herbs reminds me a lot of how the dye system worked in the early betas. Find seeds, take them to the home instance, wait a day. They complete revised that, and I was happy because it was not a pleasant system. And now they've implemented a far more complicated version of it. I'm filing this under "one step forward two steps back".

Have you run the cow event at the location shown to you on the map when you speak to the butcher in Diessa… if not, go there and run the escort event and after it completes the butcher says some stuff then you can go farm meat from things like wolves, wargs, minotaurs etc you will randomly get some rare cuts of meat drop.. the poultry meat is just the standard meat you can get from the birdy type critters..

3rd plot is awesome, didn't realise only had to do sylvari collection and not have to bother with anything else to unlock it.

So far unless any new food comes in with +x% endurance regen, I don't have any incentive to finish the collection as selling heat stones is better for now.

Can anyone definitively state whether only your chef that's done the achieves can get the meat and seed drops or any of your alts can? My chef is a Daredevil and not the one I run around beating things up with. I would prefer to accrue mats on any alt with whom I happen to be roaming the maps.
