Red Faction Outpost Strategy

Some of you may remember my idea thread on the Outpost Base concept.https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/86542/new-idea-for-wvw-outpost-bases-new-structure-that-can-be-built-and-provide-tools-for-large-war#latest

Well here is a similar strategy concept that I would hope more people take advantage of in battle, and come up with similar concept for the other two Factions.

VhUirOa.jpg

On the hill between the Red Keep and SMC, the Outpost gets built here. From here you can attack Inner SMC and Outer SMC simultaneously, with a few chokepoints coming into the Outpost.

I recommend 10 People minimum at the Outpost. ( 9 Siegemen and 1 Scout). But thats just for the minimum. The more the better, for countering enemy zerg attacks on the outpost base.

Requires 650 Supply for basic sieges. Which with 10 people will be about 3.25 Supply runs from the Keep to build, which can be quickly done if more people pitch in for supply running.

In the picture above:

  • the 6-sided-Star are Trebuchets.
  • Down Arrow is Ballista.
  • Triangle is Shield Generator.
  • Diamond is Arrow Cart
  • Hexagon is Catapult.

Plan of Attack:*Two Trebuchets on the Keep Wall are for defense against enemy zergs. Raid down Trebuchet attacks provide heavy damage and CC to your allies in the Outpost when they fighting enemy Zergs coming from SMC. This allow them to hold up a fight even when outnumbered.

*The Three Trebuchets in the Outpost will simultaneously attack both Inner gate of SMC, and 2 Outer Wall of SMC by attacking the corner wall.

*Catapult acts as another Defensive siege to AoE damage incoming Zergs as well as provide heavy CC to defenders of the Outpost.

*Arrow Cart can provide damage of different kind, but the Cripple Arrow come in handy here to slow down enemies for Trebuchets from Keep Wall to rip through enemy zergs. The Bleeding also comes in handy here. If the person has the WvW Mastery for Arrow Carts you can even reveal stealth for a counter to potential Stealth Bombers.

*Shield Generator will provide the Outpost with defense from incoming Trebuchet attacks from SMC, and also use Force Wall as weak Wall to counter enemy Zergs running into the Outpost. Remember anything to slow down the zerg comes in handy here for Keep Wall Trebuchets to tear them apart. Force Ball comes in handy here as a CC to knock enemies off the cliff choke-point which leads into the Outpost.

*Ballista Shattering Bolt is good for defending the choke-point and this is also good for picking off scouts and individuals that enemies send.

I hope stuff like this bring more Open Field Siege gameplay in the future.

@Swagger.1459 said:You’re acting as if we don’t know areas to siege from. You’re a bit late to the party on that... Besides, it’s not the more efficient spot to siege from, that spot is easy to treb from smc and gives defenders more time to react.

Again, thank you for the effort at least!

OK interesting. Did you read the post at all?
