There seems to be a problem with drop rate of items for this collection.Bandit Chantey - "Hint: Can be found on bandits throughout Tyria." Since I started doing this collection I killed over 200 bandits and the item didn't drop.Notes of Music Theory - "Hint: Can be found on members of the Inquest throughout Tyria." First I tried to drop it in Metrica Province, but killing over 100 Inquest didn't do anything. Now I'm after killing another few hundred Inquest in Sandswept Isles and still no drop.I starting to think that it's easier to find a needle in a haystack or to win a lottery than to drop any of those items.

Yeah, the drop rate is bugged. For example, I play for several years and killed hundreds of thousands of mobs and opened even more bags and chests but got only 1 precursor.I mean come on!!!ANET should give free items every once in a while, it's 2019 - instant gratification is a thing!

Try getting hold of a Giant Mushroom Spore from Sawgill Mushrooms.... used to make some fairly mundane guild hall decos. I have never ever seen one drop . ANET have some very unsatisfactory ideas around item scarcity for sure.On the flip side, I managed to get lucky with Uzolans, got mine reasonably timely, of course you still have the silly season requirements to actually scribe the thing.. gift of music, gift of magic - hopefully its not some tiny tot deco like many of the others are when I finally decide to scribe one up.

The OP is just unlucky.

Try the following

  • Change to a different character.
  • For bandits, try Lake Doric
  • For inquest, try Rata Arcanum in Draconis Mons

I'm 99% certain that none of this matters in the least. It's entirely for the placebo effect that comes with changing how you go about "farming" things that have RNG, when you're the outlier that isn't getting the drops quickly. It's like moving to a "hot table" in a casino: you won't earn more (or less); it's just more fun.

Been there, done that. The decoration is awesome and worth it, but most of my guild-members never even noticed it.

For the Inquest and the Bandit item, I was mostly doing the lowlevel zones. Some really crawl with enemies, and thanks to our outmaxed characters, they die in a single hit. Good spots for bandits are:

About the droprate in general. Those quest-items have a rarity, in this case rare. So it might help to push your magic find with a few buffs and food.

Also, some collections trigger only with a certain character. Should not be the case here, but I would try the hunt with your Scribe character.

Personally I just did the two in TD and sometimes Tendril Torchers. There are several other easy ones especially after some of the changes but I couldn't be bothered.

Doing an adventure daily for about 8 months. Still no drop.

See? There's the source of your problem: the enemy is supposed to drop it, not you! 😂

I got my bandit one fine, after like 20 or minutes of killing mobs (reasonable) but I am waiting on the one from adventures which after several weeks of farming the gold chests, nothing. There must be overseen .33% instead of 33% which would be reasonable and in tune with the others in the collection. Bandit drop felt like it was about 3% to me.

Apparently the key to getting this to drop is to post on the forum. In less than 24 hours from my post I received the item from a bronze chest from 'on wings of gold' above Tarir (first adventure I did upon logging in). I still say there is an issue with the drop rates in this collection.
