Pistol offhand and possible Glueshot changes

Engineer currently misses a power focused offhand which becomes a problem with Holosmith's sword. Getting extra core weapons is extremely unlikely at this point so why not changing offhand pistol into a decent hybrid weapon instead of getting a new on.Blowtorch is very strong in power and even decent in condi builds but Glueshot has always been lackluster even as a utility skill. 1.5sec highly telegraphed immobilize that doesn't do any damage on a fairly high cooldown is just very situational in pvp and borderline useless in pve.

How could it be improved? It could just leave an acid bomb like damage field while keeping the mechanic. Would stay relevant in pvp for condi builds while buffing pistol for power builds and adding a use in pve.

Guardian shield and focus both got good reworks quite a while ago, isn't it time for engi to get nice stuff? Any other ideas how glueshot could be changed to make it less terrible or how shield or pistol could become better power weapons?

I actually think Glue Shot functions pretty well in terms of the animation, aoe size, etc. The fact that it doesn't do damage is actually situationally helpful when you want to Glue Shot someone, and then stealth to reposition.

Still, you're right that it doesn't do enough to justify its cooldown. I'd add a repeating immobilize pulse every 1s. I hate power creep, but it's clear that skills like Glue Shot have fallen waay behind when compared to current weapon skills.

I'd rather they replace Glue Shot. Make the puddle black, rename it Tar or Oil shot. When it falls to the ground it stays for a few seconds, those caught in it either fall down for a second or are slowed - just a slight interrupt to keep them in the field for a bit. If you happen to be near it and you blast it with either Blow Torch or another fire-based ability such as Flame Blast it changes to a short duration fire field similar to Lava Font.

Something similar to this exists if anyone recalls the Aether path from Twilight Arbour - The encountre with Sparki and Slick. No appreciable damage on the tar field, but a hefty power damage spike when the field is first blasted then changed over to fire. Then the usual burning applications and smaller power damage ticks for however long enemies stay within the field until it's gone. You'd get some internal synergy within offhand pistol, or flamethrower, or even rocket boots, as well as another field for other professions to blast along with you.

This is actually such an amazing idea. Engineer has Always been that class that does weird combo's and switches. Allowing skills to combo with eachother sounds amazing and would make the skill so much cooler. From a practical standpoint, it would be best if it interacted with current coded stuff, instead of coding new things to abilities. Therefore I would say it should synergize with fire fields. Something like:

Oil ShotCoat an area in oil, crippling enemies and coating hit enemies with the "Oiled" effect. The Area then remains for 4 seconds, crippling enemies each second.Applying burning to an "oiled" enemy, consumes the oil and applies x ammount of burning".Whenever a fire field touches the oil stain on the ground, the oil gets ignited and creates a new fire field, extending the duration of the field by 2 seconds and changing the crippled application to burning
