[PVP] Help with Warrior Build Please

Hi everyone!

So I just recently started playing warrior in PVP and I am really enjoying it! I try and mix up what profession I play and am used to Bunker Firebrand, Condi Mirage, and Holosmith, no I am trying something new, only 32 wins on Warrior so far :)

I stated playing this build: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Warrior_-_Greataxe and I got used to it and enjoyed it, but then made my own tweaks to fit my playstyle and feedback would be appreciated.

So here is my build at the moment:http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PKwAg6FlFwwYKsLGKOWTpvSA-zZJsQyMFKtAiOCUZA

I am playing in Gold 3 at the moment

EquipmentAvatar Amulet: I wanted more healing power to synergize with Vigorous Shouts without losing too much damageDagger: Loss Aversion trait means it hits harder than axe on a spellbreaker while removing boonsRunes: I am unsure of my rune choices, but still playing around with what is most helpful, very open to suggestions

SkillsTo The Limit / Mending: I know that the Healing Signet is Meta, and I understand why, but I have been stuggling with it in high pressure situations. the 1s activation time for these two healing skills is quite harsh, but it has been working. The shout gives some healing to allies, recharges my Full Counter, and gives me more dodges. Which does a lot to mitigate damage overall. Would probably take Mending for heavy condi matchupsShake it off: Nice skill, very metaFor Great Justice: Also meta, love healing and giving might to teamStomp: An unusual choice, but I enjoy the CC, the stunbreak, and the stability it offers. If I had to slot something like Endure pain I would probably swap it for this thoughRampage: Meta choice, still very strong

TraitsI am thinking of swapping Leg Specialist for Soldier's ComfortRevenge Counter can be swapped for Magebane Tether if condi pressure is lowOverall my trait choices is trying to give me damage while also giving me a good deal of support for my team

Would love to hear thoughts on what I can change. Please let me know what would I lose and what would I gain with tweaks you suggest.

Also what would I lose if I dropped Greatsword for an Offhand Axe? Just Mobility?

@Eugchriss.2046 said:Ofc you re enjoying it. You play the 4 most broken specs in the game rn, what did you expect?Since this is a war only post, you should have post it on war subforum.

And judging by ur avatar I'm guessing u enjoyed harold or rev last year when it was one of the top broken as well lol. This is gw2 man, all classes are broken, even more so on the forums lol to answer op I'm pretty new to warrior as well and I'm enjoying the top splb build in metabattle that's dagger/shield and gs but I swapped out dagger for axe, swapped out boon steal weapon sigils for agility or dps singles and swapped splb trait that does extra dps on boonsteal for cripple and slow on when doing a successful full counter.

Thanks, but giving me a new build us not the same as giving input on my build. I have no idea why you suggest those changes :)

Metabattle builds usually capture the theme of the build, while being bad at the same time. I'll go over metabatlles sb build first and whats wrong with it.

1) healing signet is terrible. Less hp/s. No condi clear. No damage bonus from peak performance. Also fighter runes provide additional synergy, making mending heal for more, grant might, and grant endurance.

2) Strength is okay as a rune but see 1 for why fighter is better.

3) Prot trait in sb is worthless, you dodge damage, not facetank it. Dealing more damage through either of the other traits is better.

4) Quickness is more damage than the boon hate trait in sb. The marginally utility isn't worth the damage loss. This leads into the sigil changes.

But these I guess are subjective, but I know that this build can win 1v1vs every warrior I've fought.

As for your build...

1) If you arent core, tactics is worthless.2) Revenge counter is terrible, I'm positive you are taking it because you aren't running mending and discipline.3) Bulls charge is a mandatory utility on warrior. It's literally the best skill warriors have.4) I can go on, but it will just be advice that moves your build close to the one I linked. No comment on the core tactics build, I stopped playing before that patch.

The build I linked can be used to beat every warrior in this game 1v1 and can at least reach top 25 in the current meta if played well. Top 10 would be hard, and any higher probably isn't possible because the meta is terrible.

@Tharan.9085 said:@Ryan.9387 You should definetly run no escape, there is a reason it is meta

It performs marginally better in a few matchups that you already win. It has no meaningful impact in the matchups that are hard for sb (ex mesmer). You don't need help in the easy matchups, take what helps you in the worst matchup and let skill win you the others.

This looks like a sort of duelist/support hybrid. I feel like once the enemy figures out what you're running they'll just constantly make you cave to pressure or they'll just ignore you while they rush your teammates. Personally I would hard spec into either DPS Duelist or lean hard into Teamfight support. Trying to wrap both into one build will only leave you open to vulnerabilities that are very easy for the enemy to exploit.

Speccing heavy into support would mean:

1) Swap shield for Warhorn for the barrier + condi reprieve + traited boons for your team2) Run Bull's Charge (like Ryan said) + sword so you can kite or help line up kills/backline enemies who are pressuring your team. Being able to pre-emptively kite better with sword helps offset the loss of shield 5. F1 immob on sword can help make clutch plays and if you run magebane tether it can help you connect easier since it's a multi hit burst skill. Can be really helpful vs thieves and mesmers. Run Sigil of Intelligence and you can get some pretty gnarly 9k+ Final Thrusts.3) Run Mender's amulet to make your healing more potent. You will need it vs good players. FGJ should be enough theoretical damage coming from your build (through allies.)4) Running Discipline makes more sense for the build. You will feel the effects of having 10 second weapon swaps at the very worst times. Also adrenaline will feel very dry without Burst Mastery ( the build is already pretty dry as is.) The smoother that you can make your interaction with skills the more chance that you'll have to really connect with the build and make clutch plays.5) Run No Escape and Slow Counter to be even more annoying at mid fights. Can be devastating if you snag into someones heal with the slow.6) Spend most of your time near teammates. The strength of support war lies in how it makes enemies have to choose which fights they will go to. The only time you should be dueling is when you are keeping a point muted. You should almost always be fighting alongside someone.

Healing signet is still a much have in any real game. Maybe some 1v1 dueling servers can run other heals, but in any conquest related gameplay you'll always want healing signet.

Loss Aversion is also a must have IMO. The adrenaline gain with dagger, FC, bulls charge, rampage, annulment/revocation sigils, etc is too good and the other choices are not that great.

Traveling a bunch in the next couple days so can't go into too much detail, but feel free to PM me IGN or on Twitch if you want to chat.

No escape is very good and at first I thought it was bad, but when fighting warriors that use this trait, not only does it render my stunbreak useless, i have to blow a condi clear as well to just dodge...by the time I’ve hit 2 skills to try and dodge the burst I’ve already been smacked by it.
