Looking for FPS advice - 2019 (RP focus)

Recommended Posts

So, I've taken a break from the game for probably a year or so. Has there been any new additions or tweaks to fps optimization? My biggest issue with gw2 has always been the turn off of having fps drops. Especially amusing considering the game knows its engine is among the worst, yet its main meta is zergs in events which makes no sense to me.

Non the less. I've got a :Ryzen 1700 3.7 ghzRTX 2070 (8GB)16GB RAM

I have people saying ''I dont have any issues with the fps''. Yet then I ask them what their fps is like in any area like amnoon etc and its 40+. I got fps drops down to 29 in amnoon, but my settings are quite high (almost maxed).

I suppose my question is, which settings are the best to leave OFF or low? My primary focus is character models being at highest since im a roleplay and I don't like to reduce the quality of character models. So I suppose my primary focus is : Character model quality, HIgh-res character texture and maybe ''best texture filtering''.

Anyway, returning playing looking for some FPS advice is all, im a very picky guy and it will never tire me how it doesnt matter what pc you got, gw2 will always be among the worst optimized games out there unfortunately.

Reduce character model limit. It can be a massive difference if you currently have it above medium.

Another one is reducing shadows, dynamic on characters take a heavy toll when there is lots of players around.

You made it a bit difficult for yourself, as character model limit is hands down the most fps-deciding factor in the game settings. You can tune down shaders and shadows (as far as I know quite big factors as well). However crowded places like LA or Amnoon will still have drops no matter what if character model limit is set to high or highest, it's that big of a factor...Idk, I wouldn't really want to make that loss in visual fidelity for more people on my screen to be honest...I myself run everything high/est except character model limit (low) and quality (medium) and experience solid fps (I7-9750H, 1660 Ti). Also, try windowed fullscreen, can make the game look smoother as well, especially works well against tearing and stuff.
