The old forums had a great feature where there were arrows to navigate between ArenaNet posts in a thread. Any chance of that making a comeback?
Will forums for Living World, HoT, etc. be created?
Also, as much as I am loving the new look of the forums, I think that the overall forum view has too many spaces between forums, if that makes sense. I don't want to feel like I need to scroll a lot. Other than that, great work! I love we can have avatars, now, so we can tell each other apart! Will we eventually be able to choose our own images (as long as they follow basic rules of decency, of course)?
Obligatory request for dark theme/night mode
The old forums had a great feature where'd they'd break every 50 posts, will that be a feature here too?
Great news! Thanks for the new forums!
It has been stated elsewhere but for the sake of keeping everything in one place...
There are a lot of lines on the page which are really distracting, especially since they aren't complete lines and break up quite a bit. When threads get longer it's going to be very messy.
One suggestion which springs to mind is more avatars. We need way more of them!
Next to that, I think this is quite an improvement, other than that it will take some readjustment.
Will the 'Reactions' be updated with all comments/posts from the previous forums or will it begin from scratch?
Oh hai.

It's might be me, but I think the current wrapper width is too big and uncomfortable to read.
Currently the max-width is 1167px and the wrapper usually for easier read is around 940-960px.
Here is an image about how it would look like:
I don't know why but the space between each post feels too close.
You can tell when there is another post, but it doesn't feel like there is enough distinction between each one. . .

Now the important Question, does the Search function actually work on this forum?
While scrolling, I would suggest shrinking the avatars for "started by" and "most recent" user. They're a bit large and distracting!

Really ? We will finally have a functional search feature ? Skritt !
Good job Anet on the forums facelift:D

First impression immediately after logging in; nice, simplistic look & feel.
Will post more when I get a hang of what's going on

Thank you so much for this ArenaNet, you totally made my day
So much faster for me o/
Total surprise! I love it, I'm excited to see how much often I will be here
Great design and easier for the eyes.

While trying to edit my signature it says I don't have permission to change it, is it disabled from us mere plebs or is it something that gets unlocked later on?
edit: Also when people hit Thumbs Up or whatever, the icons below the post are quite massive. Could those be shrinked down a bit?
Froudo // Judge Legends [JDGE] // Seafarer's Rest
I think it looks good. Not sure about the speed on mobile yet, but I will soon know
Disciples of the monkey god [Apes]
Lot nicer, but there is a lot of empty space now. Posts feel very spread out, which is great for mobile, not so great for desktop viewing. Could you guys shrink the white-space above/below each post, and surrounding each users' "nameplate" such that posts take up less vertical space?
Eyyyy I unlocked signatures
(copy&paste from another thread, as this is the better place for it)
The new forum is nice, but posts are hard to read (especially those short), because it is a mess of text with member name, posts, thumb ups and toolbar below each post. It will be helpful to have each post in a "box" and/or reduce the size of thumb ups and toolbar below or another way of distinction.
Otherwise, good work!
Edit: Just a quick mock-up how it may work: https://i.imgur.com/nXRGTjy.jpg
I would very much like a dark/night theme. The stark white background keeps me from posting much of the time.
More avatars would also be nice. The ones we have are awesome and I wouldn't want pages and pages of them, but options like Skritt, quaggan, largos, the racial symbols, catmander/commander tag would be good additions.
I'm not a fan of how spaced out everything feels, but I'll get used to that. Mostly I want a dark theme. Thanks for the forum update!
This is actually a very valid point. White takes more power to generate than black, or even the darker colors. Haven't looked at the mobile site, but if bright white is it will have an impact on battery life.
You get to unlock it when you become a "Veteran." Which is obtained through getting positive feedback from posts (thumbs up, helpful).
I have a question: I checked the "How do I...?" section and I didn't see anything about Private Messages. How do we send those?
Thanks, Gaile.

I'd like to ask why signatures are disabled. Is this feature going to be enabled in the future or is there some kind of minimum post/status requirement?

Not a fan of the new forum style. The posts looks -extremely- cluttered together and it feels hard to catch individual posts with a glance, because there is not enough distance between them, or missing much more visible divide between them so you clearly can tell each post apart.. I feel i have to squint to focus on indivual posts now, i am thinking my forum use is going to go drastically down now.
There seems to be some UI displacement on mobile devices when viewing in full site mode !other then that it looks amazing!
Main ranger: Adalyn Del Rayna. Plz stop saying raids are toxic.. raids are what you make them
Is there a way to follow specific topics, Devs (not that you all aren't great)? Or do we need to just check in periodically or do specific searches. For example, let's say I'm interested in WvW & want to follow all related topics on WvW & the Devs working on it. Or as I see it in the account menu, is it only ones that I've participated in the discussion in some way via comment or thumbs? So far I didn't see a "follow" button for Gaile Gray for instance (although this isn't a popularity contest we all love Gaile
). I did see the Dev Tracker section up top, but was wondering about specific devs or topics.
I have another issue: so, we're allowed to edit a post for 15 minutes after it's posted.
But what about threads like fan stories where we have to update the first post to show the latest updates to the story? That'll happen days later.

Also the main forum page is very bloated with empty whitepsace. Please consider condensing it significantly, instead of making us scroll down so far to reach the subforum links.
Eyyyy I unlocked signatures
Why delete the sub forum icons? Also a little bit more color wouldn't be bad. It's way too pale. Take a look at the german community forum http://www.wartower.de/forum/ . Way more pleasant on the eye.

Hi guys... while making changes to the breaks/lines, pls dont change the mobile view. The smartphone view is pretty much clean and neat with clear dividers.. and uncluttered too..
One little QoL with the UI that could change is if the red squiggly when typing no longer showed up as you are typing the word, but only after hitting enter. Very very mild thing, but it'd help things look a little cleaner when typing
It would appear that you cannot put images in posts, only link to outside sources? If this is the case it really kills the fun of the Share your Screenshot type threads.
Also relevant for, say, guild recruitment posts where it's often necessary to change details over time.
On a related note, not sure I like threads being sent to moderation if you make an edit? Posted a thread just now, wanted to make a minor formatting change... aaaand it's gone, with no way for me to access it. This feels like I'm wasting a moderator's time just to add a little extra spacing, and it's causing me anxiety because I don't know if my thread is just gone into the ether lol
My personal feedback is I don't understand why thumbs up/down are linked to an account on these forums. This could lead to some nasty fallout with just disagreeing with an opinion as your name is linked to all of it. At the very least it shouldn't show up when thumbing down.
When you are typing on mobile view, the "draft saved at" message obscures the "Post Comment" button for a while.. kinda mildly annoying.. pls look at the positioning?
It looks good, but I wish we would get the ability to upload our own images to use as avatar. Gaile got to use a pic of her own char as avatar
Needs a reply button at the top of the forums. Also a may i put in a request for a GW1 sub forum please.
Probably because she's a dev/community manager, but I agree. I'd love to get custom avatars.

Definitely an improvement over the old forum (yeay for a working search function ! ), but will have to take some time to be used to.
And looks quite good too.
However : thumbs up/down shouldn't be explicitly shown (or it could lead to some harassment of sorts). Why not keep it as a numeric value ? Like +50/-13 ? Something like that ?
Guess we can't put images directly onto the new forums? so far it seem you can only put links to photo.
@Gaile Gray.6029 BUG - most of the side pages on Guildwars2.com do not have the updated forum link. When navigating to say the profession pages and clicking on forums at the top it navigates to the old forums.
For the most part I like the look. However, there's a few points that have been brought up that I agree with and could probably use some tweaking.
The first is the width of a thread - the messages are very wide on the screen. I think it would improve readability if the max width was reduced a bit.
Related, I agree that on PC it needs a bit more vertical space between messages; right now there's not much vertical space, and combined with the width issue and the size of avatars, it makes it seem both a bit cluttered and also makes it harder to distinguish individual posts.
I don't mind thumbs up being shown (though I'd definitely shrink those icons down a bit, and maybe just show the icons but not have the account attached to it?), but I don't think that who thumbs downed a post should be visible. Letting people see who disliked a post they made has the potential to lead to harassment, or people using it to harass. It should definitely be anonymous.
User avatars on posts look quite low-quality (very blurry and full of artifacts); this makes no sense as on user profiles they're much higher quality. Something isn't shrinking them down properly.
Looks good, hopefully the writers migitation will be going on fast. Uploading own avatars would be a nice feature too. Also i hope in some sections we can edit our postings without timelock. For guildposts and a few other things i feel this really neccesary.
Can we separate Raids, fractals, and dungeons please? It never made much sense lumping these very different content types together, and this is a good time to unlump. At least separate Raids, as they are not at all related to fractals or dungeons.
New forums look great on mobile! Only have an issue with changing the profile icon (unelectable for me at the moment).
My god this is such a huge disappointment. It's like you guys decided "Eh, people might want to browse this forum on mobile I guess? Let's just make it look like a total obfuscated nightmare just in case."
PUT IT BACK.
Love the new forum so far, thanks for the update to it!
