What are your issues with GW2 and how would you fix them?

Recommended Posts

My problems with the game.

  1. It has become way too grindy.
  2. No more Dungeons, No content for small group players.
  3. Too much clutter in bigger fights. Even a team of 5 can sometimes make too much.
  4. No place for a small guild.

How I would fix it.

  1. GW2 was lovely to do achievements before. Most achievements was all about playing the game. Just buy spending time playing, doing events, killing mobs, killing Bosses, finding items here and there. And also when I enjoyed the Maps I stumbled upon achievements here and there. But now many achievements are about finding a person or an item to unlock an achievement chain so that you have to find stuff in the world in the right order and if you find something before you unlocked the prior item then you just say 'this thing is a thing, ill leave it be.' Also the rediculous grinding for instance the Skyscale achievements, when you got to the Skyscale saddle. I dont mind having to find items but you have to do events or harvest specific nodes in specific Maps. I am very happy for the recent map where you can trade that Maps specific item to get those other specific items and also they are not as grindy as prior Maps. But the fix for thar should be that we should get these specific items randomly from all events and drops on the map, let them be pretty rare for what I care but dont Force me to do the same 4-5 events once a Day for about a month (counting that i maby dont have time to play every Day). Let me Travel the map, find neat places and events and caves and what more. These new maps i have just played the places where i can grind these stupid items and then next map to grind next specific items. Bleh...
  2. Well I want Dungeons with an interesting story that Effects the world I play in, like it makes me feel I am doing something Good. Fractals are just small chunks of a story that ends to fast and well ends in meaningslessness... I love the old Dungeons and I got really sad with the news that you abandoned Dungeons. I have done fractals but I have never gotten through all levels since My Friends gets tired of them... And with new Friends I have to start over from the beginning. And well I should not blame My Friends iether, i myself does tire to do the same small fractal instaces over and over again. The Dungeons made us occupied quite a good time atleast. Please make new Dungeons.
  3. It was a while since I worked on My guild so I might be out of Line, but last time I checked it ... Making the guild grow was horrible, i dont mind there being stuff that is Hard to build but atleast make decorations manageable for a small guild. Make small guilds able to repair houses and build a big table with a cloth, few chairs and a plant without having to gather and craft a heck load of cute kittens.

Feels like it ... and that's all that's left. Maybe you think you can make a full meal from an extra scrap? You won't. We all lost already.

^ This. Thanks for the dose of realism.

There are too many things to list. The main issue would be balance and the current power level in pvp/wvw. Boon output, Damage, Passives (Endure pain, signet of stone, thief evade, balanced stance, ect) all need to be toned down considerably. The mobility creep is fine. WvW transfers costs would be reduced by a good amount and the no pip after transfer thing would be removed. Alliances would be placed higher on the priority list and an effort would be made the include other pvp game modes in their own respective ladders. On the pve side of things, I would focus less on story and more on meaningful content that keeps players engaged. An effort would be placed on creating "Training modes" for existing raids that give greatly reduced rewards but aim to teach players how to do the content (it makes so much more sense than strike missions). I would also aim to make more Fractal CMs for existing levels. Another thing I would do is allow any class to wear any armor weight class they want. (I get that mixing pieces between them isn't possible, but a light armor class should be allowed to wear a full medium set).

@Zexanima.7851 said:All I really want is more frequent attention to how they balance PvP/WvW and more content for those modes. Imagine if they released a balance patch every other week, even if small. It would keep the meta fairly fresh and keep things churning often enough that by the time some people find and start abusing a new 'broken build' things will already be changing. Not like HUGE skill reworks all the time but constant number tweaking, addition/removal of basic skill effects, stuff like that.

That would be the dream, but I have a strange feeling that the lack of it all is in large part due to there not being enough anet employees who actually play those game modes consistently enough to know week to week what's causing issues. Listening to player feedback isn't really a good way to figure that stuff out because of how chaotic it is with salty nubs claiming x is bad because he lost to it.

I think that bug doesn't fix yet. Still crush all the time and it happens more often. And I have some advices below.

  1. I really suggest add 1 more serve i ASIA so our ping can be fewer.
  2. Add Chinese version because China isolated GW2 has been like dead game there. To attract more ASIA players come and turn revenuer better.
  3. New 5 people dungeons and change the rewards. No one play it anymore.
  4. New whole main story. Really feel bored recently.
  5. Add duel option which we dont have to fight each other in PVP game mode. We dont need to waste our time.
  6. Add 2v2 or 3v3 there.
  7. Think about VIP option like 800gem per month. We pay it but just get some convenience way and no means to brake free players' experience. Maybe VIP players can use all colors within the month, free to summon bank, TP... etc. somethings like that.
  8. Wanted to buy a really house there.

My issue is the locking of collections behind dead events, in particular champion bosses or legendary bosses. These cannot be solo'ed now because when player inevitably dies due to mechanics, the boss resets its health. The solution is to review these collections and place them behind something else that can be worked on and I dont think dailies is a solution. Either this or make bosses solo-able.

Raids. They are way too hard by default and should have an easier mode. Lots of lore is locked behind difficulty that many GW2 players would like to see.

I just looked at GW2Efficiency and Vale Guardian was defeated by 30% of the playerbase, while Wing 1 was completed by 20% of the players, meaning there was a 10% drop off. Regardless, this is a very low number.

Strike missions are nice but there should be strike missions that contain all the lore of raid wings that already exist.

I hope you are joking. Most of them are super easy. Only a few bosses can be considered hard. The playerbase is just special most of the time. I witnessed druids going into avatar once every minute, 800dps mesmers providing no boons and the bs being a complete leech most of the time. A lot of druids are still not activating spirits.Vg can be 4manned without any effort. How do you want to make that even easier?

I feel like your idea of what is "easy" is a little... let's say "skewed".

My wife and I quit about two years ago. Maybe more. I was a regular on these forums but finally gave up for the reasons explained below. So take what I say with a grain of salt. The content drought did me in slow. I'm a big believer in Living Story, and its near-monthly updates whether large or small. Chasing the newest carrots kept me interested. But the demand for an expansion killed that quick as there was nothing to chase for over a year. Yet I held on. Rehashing old seasonal content wore off my interest after the third year. Hit the daily AP cap and found no reason to play other than to log in with hopes that the cap would be increased. It didn't happen. And then ANet kept nerfing classes with each patch in PvE due to complaints in PvP over and over again. That was the final nail in the coffin for me.

Guild Wars 2 was my longest-played MMO to date, and I have many fond memories of this game, but I honestly don't think anything will bring me back. I returned to see what's been going on since some advertisements hit my e-mail box to tempt me, but the magic is gone.

Best bet? Guild Wars 3 or something similar. I'm afraid the ship has sailed for too many players to bring them back to Guild Wars 2 now. And after recent events? I think ANet thinks so too.

That any content/rewards be locked into one game mode. There needs to be a way to earn all rewards in every game mode. Also, any instanced content needs to have a solo-able option with the exact same rewards, stop rewarding people just because they have the urge to find a group of people to obtain items not available to people who never want to group.

Improve game performance. It has degraded in the past years... DX12 mod is ok, has some bugs, but game still needs more optimizations and I rather have something like this native instead of using 3rd party mod. FPS drops down a lot on meta events with a lot of people, or others like Casino Blitz and Svanir Shaman, even when I have set number of character models to lowest, and other settings, it feels that they are there making me lag.

enough with the balance updates and constant nerfing classes, it drives us crazy having to change build and gear constantly. especially don't change PvE because of PvP.

listen to the feedback the actual players of the classes you "balance" (nerf) give you. 6+ months since chrono massacre, and not a single reply from the balance team to any of the posts about how awful they are

more dynamic content like how it was during LS1

make map instances support more people, allow you to switch instances like other MMOs do (Tera for example with their channels). There's definitely not enough people playing sometimes to be able to have more than 1-2 instances for a certain event, and you end up in an empty map and even if you post it on LFG, don't get enough. i.e. Chak Gherent, there's usually only 1 after reset.

definitely need a way of doing current raids with 5. maybe with reduced rewards, but after owning a raiding guild for a year and realizing all the toxicity and dissolving it, I wished I could still do them more casually like fractals with 5 people.

get rid of all those places where if you go too far "outside the map" like in VB, it instant kills you

let us rearrange home instance nodes! some of them are way too far or hidden, and then there's the ones with NPCs on top of them

VR and GamePad support would be nice. I posted something about VR like 4 years ago when VR wasn't still mainstream, would have been cool they had started working on it since, we would already had it and be cutting edge like they used to, but first fix the other stuff first

I like GW2 a lot. So, for me, the biggest issue is that I want more of it. I was disappointed to hear that they weren't planning another expansion and while I'm into this game enough to want to believe in its future, what ANet is doing right now does not inspire confidence. Years of failure to deliver basic upgrades to PvP/WvW. Promising expansion-level features but divulging no information about what those features might be and, worse, failing to release anything of the sort. This is what kills GW2 for me.

It's a shame. I know I'm in the minority, but I would gladly pay for more of this game. But if this is it? I don't know how much longer it's going to hold my interest. The only reason I'm playing regularly now is that I've been playing with a friend every day.

1. KP/LI system — for someone who didn't raid in W5 at the begining, it's nearly impossible to get into this raid. Everyone wants you to have KP. Solutions: Training (wait whole eternity for people and then healer will leave after first try). Find a guild that will carry you. Or buy this raid (it's expensive. You will get KPs, but experience doesn't matter. You have KP = you're in. You can learn the boss later). I think Raids have to get rid of "KP/LI" currency or they need some easy/training mode.

  1. Power creep — Too much damage; players already thinking "just out-dps it to avoid mechanics". How to fix it: some nerfs to the certain skills and buffs.
  2. Completly unrewarding content — everytime you do any event, you get some very common stuff and all you can do with it is salvage, open and salvage or click "sell junk" at nearest merchant. Some big events like World Bosses have exactly the same worthless loot.
  3. Low difficulty level in Open World — Mob's AI is very simple: hit you at all cost. They can't dodge (some mobs can evade, like those Griffons from hell PoF). If certain mobs can block attacks (shield) they will start blocking right after noticing you. Sometimes their skills have very long cast or channeling time. Condis from mobs do very low damage. How to fix it: Better AI, so mobs can heal or more randomly try to block your attacks. Give them ability to dodge like players, speed up their attacks. Give them more skills.
