[Feedback] New Drakkar Fight

The first fight after patch showed very little change so I am wondering if it isn't fully applying the changes

  • no new attacks (at least not visible ones amongst the visual noise - Anet this visual pollution needs fixing as a high priority imo. Please stop ignoring it)
  • slightly shortened health bar judging by dps
  • 20 stacks for new True Nimble achievement
  • Slightly buffed champs
  • No change to cc bar as it dropped instantly
  • 8 mins now on portal lock out debuff

That was from the fight starting 10 mins after patch dropped. There was also a mass dc, so there could be a bug where Drakkar itself isn't fully changed. IIn case I miss the next round to test again - could anyone doing it post here to see if they notice any significant changes during the next rounds (or if they experienced something different on a diff map shard). Right now the fight is on par/easier than pre-patch, but I am hoping that's down to a glitch.

edit: Second run we got a little caught out with barely anyone on 3rd champ. It made no difference. The shield was never in danger (why does it even have a health bar?) and the event still completed without issue. The fight in my opinion needs a whole rethink. It needs phases, it needs to pull people apart more to reduce the visual overload. It needs mechanics that mean something. Right now, it's a long champ fight and that is it.

Didn't notice anything different except the 8 min timer on the portal lockout. Might have been completed slightly faster. Loot was the same. The 20 stacks on Nimble was there of course, but the description "Defeat Drakkar without dying or being hit more than 20 times" is wrong. I didn't die once, I didn't even get downed once, and yet it disappeared without unlocking.

And you still get stuck inside one of the chests at the end if you stand where they spawn.

I just did the fight. We had a nice group and the only things i recognized were shorter event time, still no drops on the way to the arena, only a handful (i have tiny hands) drops inside. Champs got more HP but can still be blindly zerked down. The stomp of the dragons paw (sounds like eastern karate movie) does a bit more damage.

Its like fighting Tequatl and hoping for the ascended box.

Supposedly ANet is doing a Let's Play of the fight in their live stream starting four minutes ago, but the stream isn't live, chat is silent, and per the timer on the wiki the next Drakkar fight is an hour away. I've triple checked their announced time vs. the current time, it is just past noon Pacific right now.

Put the Gilded Reliquary of the Raven in the possible loot for Drakkar and have it NOT be super rare.

Reduce the visual noise. I think Anet counts "sensory overload" as a way to make bosses challenging in lieu of developing real mechanics.

Before Anet makes Drakkar TOO hard, they might want to remember that it won't be long before this map is just as empty as LS3 and LS4, thanks to the "publish and abandon" paradigm. We're already at a point where a lot of things in the game probably should be made a bit easier for players due to lack of help to do them.

This is especially worth remembering given that they have clearly marked this as a standard World Boss, given its additional to the boss portal and its position with Teq and Shatterer in the achieve list. It seems like this one is meant to be for a more general audience which is fine. I hope that there is a couple metas more in the Oil Floes kind of level along the way, but a World Boss of the broader level is completely appropriate too.

Yeah, just did it successfully.So we devided the squad to have some also on the second champ, as a result it took a little longer per champ and in general.Visual noice seems to have increased a little, annoying as always.Otherwise as long as you get on a map using LFG with enough people, it should not be a problem even after the change.And apparently someone got the new ascended chest. Not me, but at least I got the ugly hat box :)

But DCs seems to be a problem. Drakkar was fine on my map, but I got disconnected twice with Karka Queen, and roughly at the same time in the fight.I got on a map that did it successfully after that, so it seems to work sometimes, but it looks like a generic boss fight problem, when I read about the DCs with Drakkar.And it looks like the instance crashed, because everyone was disconnected. But not disconnected from GW2, just the map.

Thanks, that wasn't up when I posted :) Guess they really meant 1 pm Pacific. Oh well, I'm in a squad about to personally do the fight.

ok what in the kittens is going on in the office let me start out with yes Drakkar needed some buffing to match all the hype but as in the past OVERKILL 3 times now on maps that arnt quite full TT with a map roughly the same does better same with shatter after it got its buff and in the jahi fight but damn when I see it take the full 20 min and health is at like 70% still well like I said OVER KILL I stoped doing AB meta for one reason got sick of sudo commander barking do this go there and when shit went south it was every ones falt it faild as for this posable new drop I wont go in to how that's going to pan out I have played gw and gw2 frome bata as for GW2 to date never see a pree drop ascended drop take a look at that mount you all called a Pegasus a cross between a Unicorn and a Griffon or as I call it the out come of My Little Pony having kittens with a griffon get my point OVERkill don't fix things using the noodle between them ears and thinking it threw does if this is where GW is heading ill go back to Table top rpg's at least I can smack the GM up side his head for being a fool

You see that symbol between "ron" and "6157"? It's called a period, and its use is encouraged.

Drakkar's damage output has been increased.

-> Hmm hmm really? Got barely same number of downed there before and after patch (Jade Sea EU), the pterodactyl was killed as fast as usual. 10 Mins left.

Drakkar's defiance bar has been strengthened.

-> Wiped in 2 secs, no differences seen.

Drakkar's health scaling has been decreased.

-> Well noticed the health was decreasing a little faster, that's all.

Drakkar has gained new abilities.

-> Nope, no new abilities, same 5 boring phases as before.

The spirit champions in the Drakkar encounter have had their health and damage outputs increased.

-> The only change i noticed, gate champion take more time. But well it's just bounty ones with ley line mechanics, no special things, still meh.

The duration of Spiritual Binding has been increased from 4 minutes to 8 minutes.

-> Barely noticed it, same peoples come to the gates when the same stay at middle... It infuriates me to be locked out from 2 of 3 portals.

Certain attacks that were increasingly hard to avoid will no longer remove the Nimble Onslaught Eligibility effect.

-> Completely broken, sometime I'm hit big attack freezing the whole arena and it removes me points for the achievement, sometimes not, sometimes remove points when I dodge it, sometimes not.

Missed falling ice orbs will now have greater consequences for any players who did not participate in absorbing their effects.

-> Nope it does nothing, several other players and me took 0 orbs, no problem for us. No consequences.

With greater risks come greater rewards. Drakkar rewards have been updated with a new Broken Voice ascended weapon set, as well as other additions. Defeating Drakkar will also give an increased amount of experience once per day.

-> Well I think there is an issue with that giant frozen chest! Everytime I do Drakkar it doesn't open like I'm not looting it with autoloot! Can't check because can't interact with it! If it's bugged it means I missed ton of loot! I don't see any difference, doing a 30 min meta for a such big unrewarding scam is outrageous.


Either the patch is bugged and 3/4 of the changes aren't applied, or you are definitely doing your best to ruin world bosses and destroy the soul of that game.

I'm actually scary about the incoming fractal if it's the same level as that. It's just bad, you did worst than core tyria world bosses that are 7 years old, just wow! Plus would not care that much if it wasn't a big figure of gw1! In addition of ruining the appearance, you ruined its credibility. I can only urge you to re-edit all of that but seriously this time. It's worrying seeing that decrease of quality, lunar new years weapons, and now that? I prefer to not see SAB world 3 and 4, that way it will not be ruined.

You could have used those useless kodans escorting (btw they can summon frozen shield! wooo), make those three rooms more marionette like, making the shield phase really threatening but not. Just see Nightmare fractal final boss, that is shield defense! Plus as many said the visual clutter.. You have snowflakes explosions, flying debris everywhere! It's the apocalypse? For the achiev I have to jump over waves, avoid flying debris when drakkar emerge, avoid cone, avoid all area attack (kinda impossible even if i evade it's counted as failed), deal with foes.... Check for falling orbs....

TLDR: Less Area Of Effects fest, more big main unique mechanics, no feet fighting simulator (it's the case here) why we don't attack and break claws, then it emerges like during gate phase and we have to fight its head? And then we end it by channeling the three spirits power? And god please fix rewards, LS1-Personal stories and Hot are more rewarding than your ice-brood saga! Ensure the big main chest is looted and not bugged. Make all ravens armor droppable from the chest (same rate as ice golem helmet) Make ascended drop each 20 metas done. Make them reachable. Make a real carrot that push players to go back to those areas, and not false hopes.
