PoF Mount Bug: Camera Doesn't Follow Player, Mount Doesn't Show.

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately, I seem to be having a rather game-breaking issue, as I have been ever since PoF released. When I got my first chance at riding the Raptor mount at the beginning of my Story, the first, most glaring issue was the fact that my camera would stay glued to the spot and would not follow my character around where he went. This made it impossible to travel around the village area and get to the fires that required the mount. The second issue is that the mount does not appear, not for me or any other players around me that are riding a mount, Raptor or otherwise. This leaves all of the character models stuck into the ground as the scoot around on nothing, my character included.

Since my camera refuses to follow my character whenever he gets on a mount, this makes it impossible for me to use the mount function in the game. I finally had to get some of my friends to help me put out the fires in the areas that are only able to be reached by Raptor in my story and help me get through the rest of the chapter so I could unlock the Raptor mount, but even outside the instance, the problem persists.

This issue has gone on the past few days without a fix, and I have yet to see anybody else have the same problem with their mounts. Here's what I've done to try and fix the problem, to no avail:

  • Let the game download 100%
  • Had my character sit on the mount for around 15 minutes in hopes that the game would catch up
  • Tried the mount on all my existing characters
  • Tried getting on the mount in various populated and unpopulated areas

Unfortunately, none of these seem to have fixed it, and I'm still stuck with the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I've been having this issue since Sunday at some point, too. The camera position stays stuck at the point where you mounted and it looks like I'm dragging my butt off into the distance. Dismounting pops the camera back and usually remounting fixes it.

I've also been having issues with assets like buildings, fences, etc. taking a long time to load. Maybe it's related and the mount model isn't loading quickly enough?

I can stay on my mount until it disconnects me from inactivity and it still will not fix itself, I'm afraid. I can also get off and back on the mount as many times as I want, and it will not fix.

I understand that Arena Net is probably overwhelmed with bug reports and fixes, but without use of the mount feature, a large portion of Path of Fire is unavailable. I hope for a fix to this bug as soon as possible.

I'm having this too every time I go to a new map. If I summon the pet too early I basically go inside the ground ant the camera doesn't follow me.

I've been reporting this from day 1 of PoF. However for me it's usually fixed if I dismount and mount again after some seconds (at least until yesterday, but now they've released a new update, so who knows).

i have had a similar issue, when trying to mount sometimes the raptor just doesn't spawn and the camera stayed glued where i mountedas far as i observed i have been mainly running in to this bug in asset heavy locations like amnoon, i am not sure what fixes it, unmounting and remounting doen't usually help but running off (and using the mini map for navigation, i have gotten depressingly good at it) does eventually snap the camera to youit's probably because i am running this game on too high settings on a toaster but it would be nice if they could fix it ^^;;;

I often get this as well. A tiny little me (or maybe it's just a small part of me) takes off while the camera stays in place. I can manuever the tiny me, until i can no longer see me (I've always forgotten [until now, after reading this thread] to use the Mini-map to continue controlling the tiny me). I also have trouble loading assets, sometimes, in areas, but they eventually load. I had the same issue in the Demos, though not as often.

I've had this issue too where my mount would appear after a short while and I believe it may be connected to map loading. For me, my connection is slower than most (mobile phone connection) and I can and usually do sit and watch my map load up while at a waypoint. If I get on my mount as soon as I waypoint, as soon as the map is fully loaded my mount appears. If this is true for everyone, they shouldn't tie mount loading to map loading. They should tie it to character loading since your character loads immediately. It's only right in my opinion.

I have similar issues, mostly on my laptop which is an older i7 with an nVidia gtx445m video card. Basically I'll look like a flying corpse for 5-8 seconds before the game catches up and the camera snaps to my location. It's most noticeable in LA. Even with my desktop, which is an i7-7700k, 1080 video card and GW2 installed on a 6gbps M.2 drive, I don't get issues with mounts rendering, but I'll see map elements such as building and trees with delayed load times, sometimes up to 3-4 seconds. ANet needs to change the map load priority to accommodate slower connections and computers with their minimum specs. Now, at 3Mbps, I don't have an incredibly fast Internet connection, but most map elements should be loading from the hard drive, which should be pretty instantaneous with that drive. Basically they need to change load priority so that all required map and character elements are loaded in to memory before activating the player in to the map.

I have this same issue every single day. They seem to have fixed the camera getting stuck, but my mount sticks me in the ground all the time. At least now that the camera is fixed it's no longer a game-breaking issue, but it's still incredibly annoying. This happens across all characters and seems to happen more often after loading a new map.

It's lag related, specifically seems to be client lag. If your client has not finished loading the environment, you are likely to see this happen. If you aren't stuck in the ground, you may see your mount and other's T-posing, just standing there with no animation. It may rubberband you back to where you started, and slide/run you to where you moved all over again. Additionally, if on a slow laptop, getting on and off a mount repeatedly can leave multiple copies of your mount standing there for others to see. Was odd to see a line of 3 skimmers just sitting there riderless in LA.

I been having this problem a lot recently. Seems to be getting worse. If I hit mount attack while it's glitched I fall under the map. Very annoying when trying to keep up with a group. It's been so bad I just don't use mount. " Fall Behind get left behind" Pirate code
